ABOUT THIS BOOK You trust your family. They love you. Don't they? When 17-year-old Eva Olsen awakes after a horrific accident that has left her bedbound, her parents are right by her side. Caring and kind, they watch over her night and day in the attic room of their family home in the forests of Norway. But the accident has left Eva without her most recent memories. And someone isn't telling her the truth. As secrets from the night of the accident begin to surface, Eva realises - she has to escape her parents' house and discover the truth. But what if someone doesn't want her to find it? MY REVIEW Imagine at 17 waking up in a dark room, covered in scars, and the door is locked. Terrifying, right? Well, this is exactly the situation that Eva Olsen finds herself in, in the LAKE CHILD by Isabel Ashdown, and what follows next is a complicated tale of unravelling secrets, betrayals, heartache, and hope in this excellent psychological thriller. Eva's parents have her under lock and key in the attic room ever since she returned home from the hospital after an awful accident where the culprit was never found. They won't let her best friends visit her and they are definitely hiding something from her. But what? Eva has always had a wonderful relationship with her parents but something isn't right. If only she could remember what happened, maybe it would hold the key to the mystery. But Eva is a very determined young woman who will do whatever it takes to uncover the truth, even if that truth could destroy everything that she has ever known. Compelling, shocking, and completely unputdownable, LAKE CHILD by Isabel Ashdown is everything you want in a thriller and more. There is confusion, lies, twists, and turns that will leave you speechless, and a main character that you really care about and connect with. I don't want to give too much away because it would ruin so many elements of this story but suffice it to say there are so many things that you will just not see coming! LAKE CHILD by Isabel Ashdown is superb and I cannot help but think it would make a perfect tv drama, and I cannot wait to read more from this fantastic author. AUTHOR BIO Dark, compelling and beautifully twisty ... have you read Isabel yet? In 2018, BEAUTIFUL LIARS shot to #3 in Amazon UK's Hot New Psychological Thriller Releases, while LITTLE SISTER was shortlisted in the 2018 Dead Good Reader Awards. Her next novel is LAKE CHILD, a dark and haunting thriller set in a remote valley town in the heart of Norway's ancient fjords (out September 2019). Isabel Ashdown was born in London and grew up on the Sussex coast. Her writing career took off ten years ago, after she won first prize in a national novel opening competition judged by Fay Weldon, the late Sir John Mortimer and thriller writer Michael Ridpath. The novel, GLASSHOPPER, went on to be twice named as one of the best books of the year, and Isabel now writes full-time alongside her work at the University of Chichester, mentoring students as a Royal Literary Fund Fellow. ABOUT THIS BOOK Local girl Honoria Kane is the scullery maid in the kitchens of Tyrone House, a job she took on reluctantly at her parents’ insistence. Christopher St. George is heir to the magnificent house and a vast estate in County Galway. His passion is horses, while his ambition is to become a member of the Turf Club and own his own racing stables at the Curragh of Kildare. Against all the odds they fall in love. But the road ahead is to be a long and rocky one. Their worlds are wide apart and, if they are to be together, they will have to defy their families, social convention and the law of the land. Christopher is Protestant and Honnie is Catholic. In 1827, marriage between them is illegal. But to live together unmarried would disgrace both their families, break their parents’ hearts and affect the marriage prospects of their siblings. But Christopher is a risktaker, both on the racing track and off, and Honnie knows she has found the love of her life. They have to find a way to be together. MY REVIEW History comes alive in this emotional story of forbidden love and hardship in Ireland during the 1800s. Honoria Kane is a lowly scullery maid at the big house, a job she despises but must do to help her family. Christopher St. George is the heir to this vast estate where Honoria works but horses are the love of his life and where his passion lies, and then he falls for Honoria. Forbidden on every level and from every side, Honoria and Christopher are determined to be together and are willing to risk it all for each other. But at a turbulent time in Irish history where class divides and poverty are everywhere in sight, can love really conquer all? Part historical fact and part fiction, HONORIA by Marion Fitzgerald has obviously been a huge labour of love for this author who has a personal connection to the story which you will discover at the end. While this story is certainly long in length, please do not let it deter you from reading it because there is not an unnecessary word used to describe this enthralling love story. Ireland's history comes alive on every page and the level of description and detail shown throughout is truly awe-inspiring as the amount of research necessary must have been huge. HONORIA by Marion Fitzgerald is an emotional story that is sure to touch your heart. The characters steadfastness, their hardship, and their strength of spirit are abundant on every page and I highly recommend this story to readers who enjoy historical fiction and Irish fiction alike. AUTHOR BIO Marion Fitzgerald was born and grew up in Sandymount, Dublin. She went to school locally and then on to UCD where she did a BA degree in English and Spanish. After she left college she got some part-time work with a trade journal and eventually went on to work for the Irish Times, first as a secretary and then as a full-time journalist. She wrote for various newspapers and magazines over the following years and did a bit of television RTÉ's very first days. She also did some radio work and loved it. Marion enjoys travelling and has always enjoyed meeting people and hearing their stories. She counts herself lucky to have met many of the most interesting people of her time in her role as a journalist. Available Now

ABOUT THIS BOOK Is Paris the city of happily ever afters? Workaholic art historian Aurora Black doesn’t have time for fairy tales or Prince Charmings, even in the most romantic city in the world. She has recently been hired by a Parisian auction house for a job that could make or break her career. Unfortunately, daredevil journalist Cédric Castel seems intent on disrupting Aurora’s routine. As Aurora and Cédric embark on a journey across France, they get more than they bargained for as they find themselves battling rogue antiques dealers and personal demons, not to mention a growing attraction to each other. But with the help of a fairy godmother or two, could they both find their happily ever afters? MY REVIEW If you are looking for an adventurous romance with lovely characters and plenty of drama along the way, then look no further than A PARIS FAIRY TALE by Marie Laval. Aurora Black is a smart, sexy woman who hides her lighter side under a strict and professional facade. She is one of the best art historian/palaeographers in the world and Aurora has thrown everything into her career for two reasons - firstly because she loves it so much, and secondly because she wants to prove herself in the art history community where many of them knew her grandfather. She doesn't have time for love or happily ever afters so when she gets the opportunity to authenticate one of the oldest and rarest manuscripts to be discovered, she jumps at the chance and soon finds herself in Paris, but love is the last thing on her mind. But when Aurora finds herself caught up in an adventure with a handsome journalist, who knows what could happen? Entertaining, romantic, and sassy, A PARIS FAIRY TALE by Marie Laval is an enjoyable story about self-belief, love, and finding the strength to go after what you want. Aurora is a wonderful character and as the story developed I longed to see her open up and believe in herself a little more. A PARIS FAIRY TALE is a delightful read and is sure to please romance fans everywhere. AUTHOR BIO Originally from Lyon in France, Marie studied History and Law at university there before moving to Lancashire in England where she worked in a variety of jobs, from PA in a busy university department to teacher of French in schools and colleges. Writing, however, was always her passion, and she spends what little free time she has dreaming and making up stories. A SPELL IN PROVENCE is her first contemporary romance. It is published by Áccent Press. Her historical romances ANGEL HEART and THE LION'S EMBRACE are re-released by Accent Press. And Books 1, 2 and 3 of the DANCING FOR THE DEVIL Trilogy, a historical romance set in Scotland, have just been released. ABOUT THIS BOOK In the early 1900s, a young woman embarks on a fantastical journey of self-discovery after finding a mysterious book in this captivating and lyrical debut. In a sprawling mansion filled with peculiar treasures, January Scaller is a curiosity herself. As the ward of the wealthy Mr. Locke, she feels little different from the artifacts that decorate the halls: carefully maintained, largely ignored, and utterly out of place. Then she finds a strange book. A book that carries the scent of other worlds, and tells a tale of secret doors, of love, adventure and danger. Each page turn reveals impossible truths about the world and January discovers a story increasingly entwined with her own. MY REVIEW Breathtaking in so many ways, THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS by Alix E. Harrow is truly unlike any other book I have ever read before. It is the 1900s and a young girl called January Scaller finds herself living in the home of Mr. Locke, a wealthy businessman who employs her father to find unusual treasures and artefacts. But January is struggling to find her place and happiness in this home as she becomes more and more aware that she is a curiosity herself to the rest of the world. But January believes in magic and when she discovers a book about secret doors and the worlds they are hiding, everything will change. A captivating adventure, THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS is almost lyrical in its descriptions and the characters come alive upon each page in such a spellbinding way that it will have you stopping along the way and taking a breath to take it all in. I'm struggling to convey just how special this story is without saying too much, but there is love, heartache, magic, and more nestled among these pages that will take you to another time and place and capture your heart. THE TEN THOUSAND DOORS by Alix E. Harrow is exquisite in every way and I highly recommend it to all readers who yearn to get lost in a truly excellent book. AUTHOR BIO Alix E. Harrow is an ex-historian with lots of opinions and excessive library fines, currently living in Kentucky with her husband and their semi-feral children. Her short fiction has been nominated for the Hugo, Nebula and Locus awards. The Ten Thousand Doors of January is her debut novel. ABOUT THIS BOOK I HEREBY SOLEMNLY AND SINCERELY DECLARE BEFORE GOD THAT I WILL FAITHFULLY DISCHARGE THE DUTIES OF A MEMBER OF THE GARDA SÍOCHÁNA . . . Detective Garda Bridget Harney’s obsession with Séan Flannery began when he claimed his assault on an underage victim was consensual. WITH FAIRNESS, INTEGRITY, REGARD FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, DILIGENCE AND IMPARTIALITY . . But the case against him fell apart. Bridget realises no rules hinder Flannery, so why should they hinder her? UPHOLDING THE CONSTITUTION AND THE LAW AND ACCORDING EQUAL RESPECT TO ALL PEOPLE . . . When a severed arm is found in a pig carcass in Dublin docks, her instincts tell her Flannery is involved. Her colleagues say there is no evidence. But Bridget refuses to let Flannery slip further into the darkness. MY REVIEW After devouring 47 SECONDS by Jane Ryan in one sitting, it is safe to say that fiction needs to make room for another master of crime fiction. Gritty, emotional, and utterly enthralling from start to finish, this book left nothing to chance and completely blew me away and desperate for the sequel! Detective Garda Bridget Harney has had to prove herself among her peers because not only is she a woman but she is also a judge's daughter and a qualified solicitor herself. So what if she likes to keep things to herself and go it alone in cases, with the exception of her partner and best friend Kay? Those in power can just put up with it because Bridget knows she is good at her job and she has enough on her plate with her family situation to worry about connecting with her fellow Gardaí. And when a severed arm is found in a container in Dublin Port, Bridget's senses are telling her this has Sean Flannery's paws all over it but proving it is another matter altogether. But as Bridget digs deeper and there appear to be links to another crime involving a wealthy family, how far will she go to get her man? I thoroughly enjoyed the police procedural element of this novel as it really opened my eyes to the amount of technical work that goes hand in hand with being a Garda in Ireland, while also showing its flaws and frustrations. The characters are brimming with depth and substance, and while I didn't always agree with Bridget, I could understand her motivation to do the things she does, and my heart broke for her as she tended to her mum who has dementia. Kay is the friend we would be lucky to have and hope to be like, Bridget's confidante and conscience all rolled into one and their relationship made it easy to connect with them both as characters. 47 SECONDS by Jane Ryan has a rough, steely quality to it as the seedier side of the Emerald Isle claws through and my heart raced as Bridget and her fellow officers dug deeper and deeper to get to the truth. Fresh, compelling, and a force to be reckoned with, 47 SECONDS by Jane Ryan is one of my favourite crime fiction reads this year and I look forward to many more from this talented author. AUTHOR BIO Jane Ryan’s short stories are published online and in print. She was short-listed for the Hennessy Literary Award and her most recent short story appeared in an anthology entitled Strange Love Affairs. Her debut novel, 47 Seconds, came out in March 2019. Jane lives in Dublin with her husband and two sons. ABOUT THIS BOOK Perfect wife. Perfect life. Perfect crime. Anthony is not the man everyone believes him to be. And Emelia is not the woman he wants her to be. Theirs was a whirlwind romance, Anthony was the doting boyfriend, the charismatic and successful career man who swept her off her feet. But now Emelia is trapped in a marriage of dark secrets and obsession. She is no more than something Anthony wants to 'fix', one of his pet projects. Emelia has no escape from the life that Anthony insists on controlling, so she shares her story through the only means she can – her blog. Yet Anthony can never find out. Forced to hide behind a false name, Emelia knows the only way that Anthony will allow her to leave him, is death. Trapped with a man she knows is trying to kill her, Emelia is determined that someone will hear her story and Anthony will meet his ends. That everyone will discover the truth. MY REVIEW Oh. My. God. What have I just read?!?!? And the fact that this is based loosely on true stories is even more terrifying!! THE TRUTH by Naomi Joy is a twisted and dark tale that will take everything you know and flip it onto its head and is sure to keep you thinking long after you finish the last page. Emelia was swept along in a whirlwind romance with Anthony and has a relationship that she never thought was possible with all of her health issues. But she feels strong and positive. Until she starts to feel ill again and begins to worry that Anthony may be keeping her that way. Her only escapism from her home is her blog where she writes about what is happening to her, her suspicions and fears, hoping that it will reach someone and make them understand her. Because she believes Anthony, her loving husband, will do anything to keep her silent and reliant on him forever ... This is one of those annoying reviews where I cannot give away too much detail or it would completely ruin the plot but believe me there will be moments when your jaw drops and you cannot believe what is happening. The characters, while never really likeable, are interesting and held my attention throughout and by the end I was simply speechless. Fresh, compelling, and completely surprising, THE TRUTH by Naomi Joy is an exceptional psychological thriller and I cannot wait for more from someone who is fast becoming one of my favourite authors in this genre. AUTHOR BIO Naomi Joy is a pen name of a young PR professional who was formerly an account director at prestigious Storm Communications. Writing from experience, she draws the reader in to the darker side of the uptown and glamorous, presenting realism that is life or death, unreliable and thrilling to page-turn. ABOUT THIS BOOK Christmas magic can thaw the coldest of hearts… Sylvie Magnusson is going to be lonely this Christmas. Instead of jetting off for her sunshine honeymoon, she’s freezing at home in Cheshire. Guess that’s what happens when your fiancé dumps you a week before your wedding… Sylvie’s best friend, Nari, plans a trip to see the Northern Lights and get Sylvie’s mojo back. But as their Lapland getaway approaches, Sylvie realises that Frozen Falls is the hometown of Stellan Virtanen, her dreamy Finnish ex-boyfriend, the one that got away. Even though he actually ran away, and Sylvie never understood why… Luckily, when they meet, Stellan’s still gorgeous – and her heart is warmed when he shows her the romantic delights of Lapland (as well as some seriously adorable Husky puppies). But when she returns to England can she really leave Stellan behind? Or will she find that her heart belongs in the frozen North? MY REVIEW I know for many it is too early to mention the 'C' word but the book on the blog today is more than just a festive story - it is a wonderful depiction of friendship, acceptance of the past, and strength to find happiness when things are not looking so great. Plus there is Christmas magic, beautiful settings, huskies, and hot chocolate to give you all the warm, fuzzy feelings as the evenings begin to get a little darker and chillier. Sylvie does not want to face Christmas this year but she hasn't got much choice. She should have been going on her luxurious honeymoon with Cole, her husband. But that didn't happen because Cole called their wedding off, OVER THE PHONE, and left Sylvie to pick up the pieces of what their life would have looked like. But Sylvie has her best friend, Nari, and together they are going to go away, relax, and recharge. And Lapland seems to be the perfect choice. The beauty of Frozen Falls is sure to make anyone feel brighter and when Sylvie runs into Stellan, the one who got away all those years ago, things may just be starting to look up. CHRISTMAS AT FROZEN FALLS by Kiley Dunbar is a wonderfully entertaining story set in a beautiful place and I found myself completely caught up in this book from start to finish. Sylvie has really been through the wringer with Cole but I loved how she is determined to try and enjoy herself for Nari's sake as well as her own. Their friendship really stood out the whole way through and it was lovely to read, but I enjoyed getting to know them separately as they tried to figure out their own love interests. With plenty of mishaps and romance, CHRISTMAS AT FROZEN FALLS by Kiley Dunbar is simply magical and I highly recommend it to all romance and Christmas fiction readers. AUTHOR BIO Kiley Dunbar is the author of heart-warming, escapist, romantic fiction set in beautiful places. Kiley is Scottish and lives in England with her husband, two kids and Amos the Bedlington Terrier. She writes around her work at a University in the North of England where she lectures in English Literature and creative writing. She is proud to be a member of the Romantic Novelists' Association and a graduate of their New Writers' Scheme. One Summer's Night was Kiley's first novel (published by Hera Books) and is on sale now! Don't forget there's also a fabulous audiobook narrated by Eilidh Beaton. ABOUT THIS BOOK Christmas and romance are in the air... It's December 23rd and while everyone else is rushing home for the holidays, workaholic Leesa Oliver is dreading switching on her out-of-office for the festive season. And it seems her equally driven boss, Cary Anderson, isn't relishing spending Christmas at his family's country estate either. So together, they draft an unexpected Christmas contract: They'll spend half of the holidays with each other's families, pretending to be a couple. Leesa knows the insufferably good-looking Cary will make her Christmas more bearable, but what happens after the last of the mince pies have been eaten...? Leesa signed off on a sensible business agreement, but somewhere, amongst the fairy lights and carols something seems to have changed... It seems there might just be some magic under the mistletoe this Christmas! MY REVIEW It's September and I know for some people that is far too early for the 'C' word but not for me who cannot wait for mistletoe and chestnuts roasting on an open fire. So when I got the opportunity to read MAGIC UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Lucy Coleman I couldn't wait to jump in and I was not disappointed. After a super stressful work project with Cary Anderson, Leesa is looking forward to getting a break from him when they get off the flight from Australia. But she isn't looking forward to spending Christmas with her ex-mother-in-law because she knows that she needs to make a clean break of things but this is the hardest time of year for her for so many reasons ... For Cary, work is everything. He knows the hurt and pain that relationships can cause so love is not something he is willing to invest in as the odds are just too high. Helping the world conserve energy and be more green through his business is the most important thing in his life, even though his beloved Grandmother cannot understand that. She wants him to find true love and Cary is dreading Christmas where the woman who means most to him will push her opinions on him. He would love to skip Christmas if he could. But fate has other plans and when a storm sees Leesa and Cary stuck together, a plan to appease everyone is hatched. What if they could act like each other's significant others when needed but just be friends in reality? It is the perfect relationship for these two ambitious, career-minded people. But sometimes love has other ideas ... First of all, while this story does start and end at Christmas, the plot covers an entire year for these characters so isn't just for readers of Christmas romance. From misunderstandings, heartache, confused feelings, and family dynamics, MAGIC UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Lucy Coleman is a warm and emotional story that will really warm your heart. I felt for what Leesa had been through in the past and could understand her reticence about relationships. Cary's grandmother is a vibrant, fun character and it was great getting to know her. MAGIC UNDER THE MISTLETOE by Lucy Coleman is a festive story about taking chances and accepting the past and will definitely please romance fans everywhere.
