ABOUT THIS BOOK

Niamh Kelly's life hasn't turned out quite as she'd expected. She's thirty-three, still living at home and was recently dumped . . . by her boss. So when her sister invites her to tag along on a work trip to the sun-drenched Italian coast, Niamh jumps at the chance, eager to escape into a world of sparkling prosecco, delicious food, and breath-taking beaches.

Upon her arrival, Niamh immediately falls in love with the beautiful Italian town they're staying in and realises she never wants to leave, deciding instead to stay and open up a quaint coffee shop nestled in charming old town streets - even if she has no idea what she's doing. But when a family tragedy and a tricky tourist season threaten her new business, Niamh isn't so sure she can stick it out.

With help from her new-found Italian friends - and the possibility of romance on the horizon - can she make her new life in the sun a success?

MY REVIEW

With as much warmth and style as the cover would suggest, let Catherine Mangan whisk you away on an Italian adventure that will make you smile from ear to ear.

Niamh Kelly's life is a mess. Her boyfriend of four years has suddenly decided that he doesn't love her anymore and to make matters worse, he just happens to be her boss too. Wallowing at home with her parents is taking its toll on her too. She is in a slump and needs something to pull her out of it. Enter her sister Grace who, along with having her life in order, has also invited Niamh on a work trip to Italy. The glamour, the stunning scenery, and the delicious food all combine to give Niamh that boost that she was looking for, and while out exploring some of the smaller towns and villages Niamh stumbles across empty premises and inspiration strikes. What if she never went home? What if Italy is where she is meant to be? But Niamh will soon find out that starting a new life in a new country isn't without its own trials and tribulations, and when tragedy strikes will Niamh have the heart to keep reaching for her dreams?

A wonderful summer read, THE ITALIAN ESCAPE by Catherine Mangan has got something for everyone. The characters are witty and likeable and the setting is so perfectly depicted that you can almost taste the Aperol spritz and feel the sea breeze on your skin. As Niamh tries to figure out what she wants from life there are plenty of laughs along the way, as well as moments that make Niamh really stop and assess everything.
An easy read to fall into, I started and finished this book in one evening and I cannot wait to see more from Catherine Mangan.

THE ITALIAN ESCAPE should be high on your reading lists this summer.

ABOUT THIS BOOK

A bomb has exploded during a fashion show, killing a beautiful model on the catwalk. The murderer is still at large... and he may strike again. Yet this is the least of Police Commissioner Christian Verger's worries. His fiancée Viola has left him. He has to keep his tumultuous past a secret. To make things worse, his voice assistant Alexa is 99.74% sure he will die tomorrow.

Moving from snowy 1980s Montana to chic 1990s Manhattan to a drone-filled 2030s Britain, FUTURE PERFECT is an electrifying race to solve a murder before it's too late. Yet it is also a love story, a riveting portrait of a couple torn apart by secrets, grief and guilt. A twisted tale of how the past can haunt a person's future and be used to predict if he will die... or kill.

MY REVIEW

An immersive psychological thriller that will enchant you from the very first page, Felicia Yap has once again created a fresh and original novel that will blow your mind!

It is 2030 and technology has become even more advanced and we, as a society, have become even more dependent on it. From iPredict that can tell you with a high chance of certainty what is going to happen to you today, drones that deliver your every need in no time at all, to the self-driving cars that can deposit you to your destination without worrying about traffic, technology is key.  But when there is an explosion at a high fashion show event it is good old-fashioned police work that will be needed to figure out the culprit - as the criminal software that will aid in capturing the guilty party is still under development. Enter Commissioner Christian Verger who is determined to apprehend the culprit before they can attack again. But he has his own problems too - like the demise of his relationship to his fiancée Viola and the secrets from the past that haunt his dreams. Viola has her secrets too but when they are all drawn into this investigation, it becomes clear that what happened all those years ago in the past, has come together now, and to save themselves and those that they love, they must figure out the connections ... quickly.

A warning to our over-reliance on technology for everything, FUTURE PERFECT is at the heart of it all a thriller. The characters are engaging and likeable, yet we are always aware that they are hiding something from us, which only left me more determined to dig up the truth. It has everything you need for a great novel in this genre - danger, murder, lies, subterfuge, secrets, and tragedy - but Felicia Yap has a magnificent talent for creating a great novel and taking it that one step further, making it sublime. I picked this up at 8pm to read a few chapters and I didn't come up for air until I was finished and it was well past my bedtime. It was worth it!

FUTURE PERFECT by Felicia Yap is everything you could want in a novel and more, and I cannot wait to read her third book!

ABOUT THIS BOOK

How do you start a new chapter of your life when you haven’t closed the book on the previous one?

Eighteen months ago, Autumn Divac’s husband went missing. Her desperate search has yielded no answers, and she can’t imagine moving forward without him. But for the sake of their two teenage children, she has to try.

Autumn takes her kids home for the summer to the charming beachside town where she was raised. She seeks comfort working alongside her mother and aunt at their bookshop, only to learn that her daughter is facing a huge life change and her mother has been hiding a terrible secret for years. And when she runs into the boy who stole her heart in high school, old feelings start to bubble up again. Is she free to love him, or should she hold out hope for her husband’s return? She can only trust her heart…and hope it won’t lead her astray.

MY REVIEW

A layered and emotional story of heartbreak and finding a way to move forward, THE BOOKSTORE ON THE BEACH by Brenda Novak is a story that is sure to tug on your heart.

A year and a half ago, Autumn Divac's husband disappeared. With all avenues leading to a dead-end and no answers for Autumn and their two children, Autumn feels like she has come to a crossroads for her family, and a change of scene is needed for them all to find a way to move forward. Heading back to the beach town where she grew up, Autumn finds a sense of peace working in the family bookshop and she hopes that this special place will help her children heal a little too. But secrets are waiting to come to the surface and when old friendships are renewed, can Autumn find a way to come to terms with her past so they can all move on in the present?

With plenty of characters and a community that lights up the page, there is never a dull moment in this story and there are plenty of characters to fall in love with too. The setting is excellently portrayed and feels so real that you can almost feel the sand between your toes and smell that fabulous book smell in the bookstore. There are plenty of moments that will have you dabbing at the tears in your eyes but it is also a story of hope and new beginnings, of strength and family.

With drama, secrets, romance, and family at the heart of it all, THE BOOKSTORE ON THE BEACH by Brenda Novak is a story that has something for everyone, and I look forward to reading more from this talented author.
