ABOUT THIS BOOK As the snowflakes fall, new love blossoms... When teacher Florence Ashton receives a surprise inheritance, she decides to make the life-changing decision to up sticks to the charming town of Willowbury in Somerset. With a new house and a new job, she’s too busy putting down roots to think about love. Air Ambulance pilot Sam Ellis is definitely not looking for romance either, especially not on his doorstep. When Florence, his new neighbour, complains about his noisy housemate, he feels more cross than star-crossed. But as the nights draw in and both find themselves thrown together in Willowbury’s seasonal drama production, will they overcome their differences and allow a little bit of winter magic to fall along with the snow? And what secrets will be revealed by the box of memories Florence finds in the attic at Bay Tree Terrace? MY REVIEW I know for some that reading a Christmas story in August is just one step too far for an already crazy 2020, but I promise you, you won't regret picking up SNOWFLAKES OVER BAY TREE TERRACE by Fay Keenan. When Florence inherits a house from her deceased great-aunt, she decides it is time for a new life and takes a leap of faith by moving to the beautiful little town of Willowbury. With a new teaching job, a new place to explore, and new friends to make, Florence is busier than she could imagine, and love is the last thing on her mind, even though her slightly brooding next-door-neighbour, Sam, makes her heart flutter just a little bit. But as always, the past is never too far away, and they are both very different people with a lot going on in their lives. But as the snow begins to fall, could a little magic help them on their way to love? With loveable characters, a stunning setting, and a lovely atmosphere that worked its magic on me as a reader, SNOWFLAKES OVER BAY TREE TERRACE by Fay Keenan is simply wonderful. The author has a talent for weaving the character's emotions in such a way that you feel it all right there with them and I smiled, teared up, and fell in love with them all so easily that I could not put this book down. SNOWFLAKES OVER BAY TREE TERRACE is a must-read this winter season so make sure it's on your list. You won't regret it!! AUTHOR BIO Fay is a bestselling author of commercial fiction. Her debut novel, 'The Second Chance Tea Shop', was published by Head of Zeus in 2017, and two further novels make up the Little Somerby series, both also published by HoZ. She loves to base her books in the wonderful county of Somerset, and readers will notice many real locations in her stories, alongside brooding heroes, self-possessed heroines and more than a few flavours of the county. A lover of all things Somerset, her aim is to show what a heart-thumpingly passionate county it really is! Fay’s latest novel, 'A Place to Call Home', published by Boldwood Books, moves slightly further into Somerset and many readers will recognise locations in and around the iconic and spiritually diverse town of Glastonbury. It is the story of what happens when opposites attract but principles collide, and unfolds in both Somerset and Westminster. Her fifth novel, 'Snowflakes Over Bay Tree Terrace', is also due for release by Boldwood Books later this year, and explores the lives of a school teacher and an air ambulance pilot who just happen to live next door to each other. When she is not writing fiction, Fay is a secondary school English teacher, a wife, a mother of two daughters and the keeper of a large, demanding Weimaraner dog called Bertie. She can often be found on the Strawberry Line, being dragged from pillar to post by either dog or children, and is only now coming to terms with the fact that some of her students, current and former, occasionally read her novels. ABOUT THIS BOOK Ultra-private, ridiculously handsome Crown Prince Arthur has always gotten by on his charm. But that won’t be enough now that the Royal Family is about to be ousted from power once and for all. When Prince Arthur has to rely on the one woman in the kingdom who hates him most, he must learn that earning the love of a nation means first risking his heart. Twenty-eight-year-old Tessa Sharpe, a.k.a. The Royal Watchdog, hates everything about Prince Arthur. As far as she’s concerned, he’s an arrogant, lazy leech on the kingdom of Avonia. When he shocks the nation by giving her the keys to the castle, Tessa has no choice but to accept and move in for two months. It’s lust at first sight, but there’s no way she can give in to her feelings—not if she wants to have a career or a shred of pride left when her time at the palace ends… Can two natural enemies find their forever in each other’s arms, or will they ruin each other to save themselves? MY REVIEW Witty, fun, and with plenty of heart, THE ROYAL TREATMENT by Melanie Summers is an enjoyable read from start to finish. Tessa Sharpe is a journalist at heart, but when a love affair gone wrong results in her being fired, Tessa starts a blog about the Royal Family, and questions every part of their existence as she believes there is no need for this institution in the modern world. Surviving on paid ad content and doing the odd product review, things are tight and it doesn't help that the rest of her family are super successful in their chosen fields. But when she gets the opportunity to live and shadow the Crown Prince, Arthur, Tessa jumps at the opportunity. He is by far the laziest and worst of them all, no matter how handsome he is, and this could be the perfect opportunity to get her career back on track. But what will happen when she spends time with those she ridicules and realises that all is not what it seems? And when Tessa and Arthur begin to feel things for each other that they probably shouldn't, who knows what craziness could happen ... A clever plot with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments along the way, THE ROYAL TREATMENT by Melanie Summers has characters that will become like family. Tessa is feisty, smart, funny, and determined, but is also vulnerable in certain areas and is desperate to make something of herself. Arthur may look like he has everything handed to him on a silver platter, and in some ways he has, but there are many layers to this man who cares deeply for those he loves and wants to make a difference. With plenty of ups and downs, twists and turns, and misunderstandings along the way, THE ROYAL TREATMENT is truly a treat and I look forward to reading more from Melanie Summers. AUTHOR BIO Melanie Summers currently resides in Edmonton, Canada, with her husband, three young children, and their goofy dog. When she's not writing romance novels, she loves reading (obviously), snuggling up on the couch with her family for movie night (which would not be complete without lots of popcorn and milkshakes), and long walks in the woods near her house. Melanie also spends a lot more time thinking about doing yoga than actually doing yoga, which is why most of her photos are taken ‘from above’. She also loves shutting down restaurants with her girlfriends. Well, not literally shutting them down, like calling the health inspector or something. More like just staying until they turn the lights off. Melanie is a member of the Romance Writers of America, as well as the International Women's Writing Guild. Melanie would love to hear from you! ABOUT THIS BOOK She watched him walk away… …and now he’s back to claim her! A family feud forced me to walk away from the woman of my dreams, Alexa—but I didn’t expect her to betray me by falling into my brother’s arms. Now, after a tragic accident, I’ve returned home to find Alexa leading the family business…and the chemistry between us is hotter than ever. The sparks reignite our electrifying connection, but can we learn to trust each other again? MY REVIEW Sizzling chemistry, loveable characters, and real heart make LOSING CONTROL by Rachael Stewart a fantastic romance in every way. Cain never expected to return to the family business in this way but after the tragic death of his father and brother, he cannot ignore his mother's plea for help, even if it means working with Alexa again. After he left his family behind him all those years ago he is angry that he cannot make amends with his father and brother, but the betrayal he feels towards Alexa runs much deeper. Not only did she stay behind but she broke his heart the day she married his brother. Now he must work with her every day and save the business which broke his world in two and it isn't long before their intense connection bubbles to the surface once again. But how could he trust the woman who chose his brother over him? Alexa is trying to deal with her grief and keep the business on track but there are rumours that things aren't going well and she needs help. But when Cain walks in the door she is stunned. How can she be around him after he abandoned her? And what will he do when he finds out the truth about everything that happened all those years ago? I've been struggling to settle into any book recently but LOSING CONTROL by Rachael Stewart has pulled me out of my funk. I loved both of these characters but especially Alexa - a strong woman who has gone through so much heartache and is still bossing it and doing what she must for those she loves while recognising her own mistakes along the way. Cain is struggling with the past and is determined to be closed-minded about Alexa but watching them relax and be honest was lovely in every way. And their chemistry?!?! Fire!! But there is also a level of emotional connection in this story which isn't always present in romances and I have to say Rachael Stewart has found a new fan in me, and I cannot wait to read more from her. LOSING CONTROL by Rachael Stewart is everything a romance reader could want and more, and I highly recommend it!! AUTHOR BIO Rachael Stewart adores conjuring up stories for the readers of Harlequin Mills & Boon and Deep Desires Press, with tales varying from the heartwarmingly romantic to the wildly erotic. She’s been writing since she could put pen to paper as the stacks of scrawled on A4 sheets in her loft will attest to, and the lovingly bound short stories that her father would run off at work and proudly share out with his colleagues. Thinking it was a pipe dream to be published one day, she pursued a sensible career in business but she was really play-acting, achieving the appropriate degree and spending many years in the corporate world where she never truly belonged. Always happiest when she was sat at her laptop in the quiet hours tapping out a story or two. And so here she is, a published author, her full-time pleasure, a dream come true. A Welsh lass at heart, she now lives in Yorkshire with her husband and three children, and if she's not glued to her laptop, she's wrapped up in them or enjoying the great outdoors seeking out inspiration. ABOUT THIS BOOK Between life and death there is a library. When Nora Seed finds herself in the Midnight Library, she has a chance to make things right. Up until now, her life has been full of misery and regret. She feels she has let everyone down, including herself. But things are about to change. The books in the Midnight Library enable Nora to live as if she had done things differently. With the help of an old friend, she can now undo every one of her regrets as she tries to work out her perfect life. But things aren't always what she imagined they'd be, and soon her choices place the library and herself in extreme danger. Before time runs out, she must answer the ultimate question: what is the best way to live? MY REVIEW A thought-provoking, evocative story about life and its endless possibilities, THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY by Matt Haig is beautiful in every way. Imagine all the ways your life could have panned out. The millions of decisions that shift your life unto a certain path, closing and opening different doors at different times. Now imagine there is a library where all the lives you could have lived reside - and you get the opportunity to try them on for a little bit to see if you would have been happier. Well, that is the situation Nora Seed finds herself. Her life did not end up the way she thought it would but if she had made different decisions would she have found fulfillment? By opening a book she can see these lives - the life where she married Dan instead of breaking his heart, or the life where she became a glaciologist like she wanted when she was a teenager, and that's just for starters. But life is never simple, even in the Midnight Library, and Nora must figure out how to live her life before it is too late. I loved every word in this story which has so much heart and humanity on each page. Who hasn't regrets or wondered what could have happened if they had made a different choice? And this story opens up all of these parallel lives where we imagine a perfect type of happiness exists, which is not what life is. Every life you could have chosen will have highs and lows, love and heartache, happiness, and sadness, and as Nora learns more about herself in each of her lives, you will find yourself learning something about yourself too. Matt Haig's writing is powerful - powerful in its honesty, its openness, its wonder at the simple things - and it's like he weaves an emotional spell over his readers as you turn each page. THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY by Matt Haig is my favourite book of 2020 so far and I highly recommend it. It's definitely one I will re-read time and time again. AUTHOR BIO Matt Haig is the number one bestselling author of Reasons to Stay Alive, Notes on a Nervous Planet and six highly acclaimed novels for adults, including How to Stop Time, The Humans and The Radleys. His latest novel is The Midnight Library and the audiobook edition is read by Carey Mulligan. Haig also writes award-winning books for children, including A Boy Called Christmas, which is being made into a feature film with an all-star cast. He has sold more than a million books in the UK and his work has been translated into over forty languages. ABOUT THIS BOOK Famous crime writer Bella Tyson is hired to co-host a Murder Mystery cruise, on a luxury liner sailing from Southampton to New York. She’s expecting an easy ride; fun and games, surrounded by amateur sleuths and fans of her books, all the while staying in a deluxe cabin and enjoying the spa and the amazing restaurants on board, culminating in a visit to one of her favourite cities in the world - the Big Apple. She’s NOT expecting to be stuck on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic with her two least favourite people in the world, her hot but unfaithful bastard ex-husband Joel Quigley and fellow crime writer, bitch goddess and Twitter frenemy, Louise Meyers. And when real live dead bodies start turning up - as well as fake not-really-dead bodies - Bella’s dreams of being pampered on the high seas turn sour. Accused of a murder she would have liked to commit but didn’t, and helped (or hindered) by a gang of unlikely detectives, can Bella find out who the real murderer is before the ship reaches its destination and New York’s finest drag her off? MY REVIEW A cosy murder mystery with excellent characters and plenty of madness and mayhem along the way, MURDER AHOY by Fiona Leitch left me very excited for the next book in the Bella Tyson series. When Bella Tyson gets the opportunity to host a murder mystery cruise with her husband, she jumps at the chance. Luxury accommodation, exquisite food, and some fun and frolics with some of the guests - what could go wrong? Well, for starters, her ex-husband, Joel, and her writing nemesis, Louise, are also on the cruise. But at least she has her beloved husband, Will, with her every step of the way, and they can always make their own entertainment! But when a real murder takes place, Bella finds herself as suspect number one, and soon she must try to uncover a real mystery that could destroy her life if she doesn't get to the truth. As the clock ticks and the bodies begin to pile up, Bella will find out who her friends are among her fellow passengers, as she tries to figure out which one is behind it all. I loved this story - the setting, the characters, the laughs, and the drama - it all works perfectly together and I didn't want it to end. While this book is the second in the series, it can be read as a standalone but it is such a good read, you should definitely read the series. Bella is my kind of gal - honest, funny, kind, and determined - and she felt like a friend by the end of the first page. MURDER AHOY reminded me of an episode of Murder She Wrote (one of my absolute favourites) but with a saucier edge to it, and while I had only planned to read for an hour, I ended up finishing the story in one sitting - I simply couldn't put it down. There are plenty of opportunities for the reader to put on their detective hat alongside Bella, and I found myself analysing everyone, trying to figure out the who and the why. MURDER AHOY by Fiona Leitch is an excellent story from start to finish and I will miss Bella until we meet again. AUTHOR BIO Fiona Leitch is a writer with a chequered past. She’s written for football and motoring magazines, DJ’ed at illegal raves and is a stalwart of the low budget TV commercial, even appearing as the Australasian face of a cleaning product called 'Sod Off'. After living in London and Cornwall she's finally settled in sunny New Zealand, where she enjoys scaring her cats by trying out dialogue on them. She spends her days dreaming of retiring to a crumbling Venetian palazzo, walking on the windswept beaches of West Auckland, and writing funny, flawed but awesome female characters. Her debut novel 'Dead in Venice' was published by Audible in 2018 as one of their Crime Grant finalists. Fiona also writes screenplays and was a finalist in the Athena Film Festival Writers Lab, co-run by Meryl Streep's IRIS company. Fiona is represented by Lina Langlee at the North Literary Agency. ABOUT THIS BOOK They're killing his team. He's coming for them. The taskforce were once apex predators, an unrivalled hunting machine that decimated those out to harm the USA, but they may have met their match. While Pike is preparing to join the team on a counter-terrorist mission in South America, a friend is killed in South Carolina. The authorities believe it was an accident, but Pike suspects the attack was meant as a message to him. When he loses contact with the team in South America, Pike becomes convinced the Taskforce is under attack. His men are the closest thing to family he has. he will do anything – even ignore direct orders to stand down – to find them. MY REVIEW Excellently paced and action-packed from the very beginning, HUNTER KILLER by Brad Taylor is an adrenalin junkie's dream and is a sure-fire hit. When someone close to Pike is killed, he will do whatever it takes to uncover the truth because he doesn't believe it was an accident, and he will take his revenge on anyone who would attack one of his family. With his team separated it isn't long before Pike realises that the situation is even more sinister than he feared and as the clock ticks down, he will do whatever it takes to find those he cares for and finish this, for good. Danger, tension, plots, and lies are all just part of a normal day in HUNTER KILLER and the story fizzes with energy from the first sentence to the last. This is the fourteenth book in the Pike Logan series but can easily be read as a standalone if you would prefer. The characters are layered and intriguing, and there was never a dull moment in this story which is saying something. The plot, the characters, the setting, and the atmosphere are all expertly written and HUNTER KILLER by Brad Taylor is an all-round riveting read. I look forward to reading more from Brad Taylor. AUTHOR BIO Brad Taylor was born on Okinawa, Japan, but grew up on 40-acres in rural Texas. Graduating from the University of Texas, he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry. Brad served for more than 21 years, retiring as a Special Forces Lieutenant Colonel. ABOUT THIS BOOK Both of them loved him. One of them killed him . . . Louise has had to watch her husband, Andrew, start a new family in the four years since he left her. The ‘other woman’ is now his wife – but Louise isn’t ready to let Caz enjoy the life that was once hers, or to let go of the man she still loves. As Louise starts to dig into Caz’s past, the two women’s pretence of civility starts to slip. But in trying to undermine each other, they discover more about the man they both married. And when Andrew is murdered at a family party, both women are found standing over the body. MY REVIEW Fresh and different, ONE IN THREE by Tess Stimson is a psychological thriller that will keep you on your toes to the very last sentence. Louise doesn't know if she will ever get over the fact that her beloved husband, Andrew, left her and their two children for another woman, who he has now married and has a child with. It has been four years now and she wants to be over it but she still struggles. Especially when he has remained so close to her family and they have to stay friendly for the sake of their children. It doesn't help that compared to his new wife with her successful career and model looks, Louise feels frumpy and unsophisticated. If only Louise could find some chink in her armour ... When Caz fell in love with Andrew, she understood that he had children that she would have to share him with but his ex-wife takes it to another level - always looking for more money, asking him to pop by to help, and inviting him to cosy, extended-family events. She could understand Louise's hostility at the beginning but it has been four years and they have a child of their own to think about - why can't this woman let them be happy? As tensions rise between both families, it isn't long before secrets from the past begin to bubble to the surface, and as horrifying truths are faced and Andrew's dead body is discovered, the question on everyone's lips will be - who snapped first? I enjoyed ONE IN THREE by Tess Stimson and the premise worked well for me. None of the characters are particularly likeable but they are very believable, which made figuring out whose side you were on very difficult to figure out - which I loved! Andrew is an absolute tool so the mystery becomes a question of who felt pushed so far to the edge, that killing him became their only solution? While I did figure out the truth, I have to admit that I jumped from one conclusion to another right up the end and I always feel that's a sign of a great thriller. ONE IN THREE has drama, mystery, heartbreaking truths, and more, and I look forward to Tess Stimson's next novel. AUTHOR BIO Tess Stimson is the author of eleven novels, including top ten bestseller The Adultery Club, and two non-fiction books, which between them have been translated into dozens of languages. A former journalist and reporter, Stimson was appointed Professor of Creative Writing at the University of Florida in 2002 and moved to the US. She now lives and works in Vermont with her husband Erik, their three children, and (at the last count) two cats, three fish, one gerbil and a large number of bats in the attic. The Mother (previously published as Picture of Innocence) is her first foray into psychological thrillers. ABOUT THIS BOOK She’s a power-hungry battle angel Coriel is determined to rid the world of demons and prove she has what it takes to be archangel. But when a fierce battle ends in tragedy on her orders, she is banished from the Heavens—and finds herself at the mercy of Hell’s sexiest and most powerful demon knight. He’s the demon knight who wants her Rather than take his rightful place on Hell’s throne, Zagan prefers to spend his days in the human realm corrupting souls—and he’ll end the life of any angel who tries to stop him. But rather than slay the beautiful battle angel when he has the chance, he binds her to him with his life-saving kiss, forcing her to obey his every command. The line is drawn Coriel has no choice but to submit to her captor, though the curse of his kiss is not what lures her to him. While Zagan takes great pleasure in exerting his dominance over the Heavens’ fiercest warrior, he soon wants her to do more than just his bidding. As the war between angels and demons rages, he wants her by his side … to rule Hell as his queen. MY REVIEW A paranormal romance with plenty of bite, BOUND TO YOU by Alyson Caraway is an exciting and fiery start to what is sure to be a dynamic series. Coriel is strong, stubborn, and determined to become archangel and extinguish demons forever. While she doesn't always agree with the angels in charge, she is a fighter and always willing to go that extra mile to get what she wants. But when she finds herself banished and abandoned to one of the strongest demons, Zagan, it will set Coriel on a path that will change everything because although Zagan may be her captor, he cares for her far more than he should. As hell becomes divided and the heavens launch a cunning plan. will Coriel ascend to old heights again or remain in hell as Zagan's Queen? With plenty of action, sizzling chemistry, and likeable characters, I thoroughly enjoyed BOUND TO YOU by Alyson Caraway and will definitely read the next book in this series. I haven't read paranormal romance in a while and this book reminded me just how much I love this genre. BOUND TO YOU by Alyson Caraway is sure to please paranormal romance fans everywhere and I'm looking forward to more from these beguiling characters. AUTHOR BIO Thanks for wanting to learn more about me! I’m Aly, and I’ve been writing since middle school. I’ve always been a fan of paranormal, fantasy, and supernatural fiction. I’ve consumed it in many forms, including from books, movies, video games and anime. I would walk home from school hoping a black cat with a crescent moon on its forehead would come to me and tell me I was a reincarnated superhero, just like in the anime Sailor Moon. When that didn’t happen, I wrote my own Sailor Moon fanfiction, then original stories, all with strong heroines with magical powers. I realized my own magical power was my love for storytelling and world building. I’m in love with my characters finding a love worth dying for. I love putting them in impossible situations and seeing how they figure things out and persevere. I really hope that you enjoy their journeys, too! When I’m not writing about lusty demons, angels, and other paranormal beings, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter, and maltipoo. I’m an avid video gamer, student of Japanese, tea aficionado, crafter, reader, and all-around nerd. I strongly believe in the healing powers of retail therapy.
