ABOUT THE BOOK A bold, sharp, gripping debut about a couple whose perfect life in the Swedish countryside is not what it seems… In an idyllic house in a Swedish wood, Merry and her husband are building their new dream life with their young baby, far away from events that overshadowed their old life in New York. And they’re happy, aren’t they? Blissfully, blissfully happy. When Merry’s childhood friend Frances comes to stay, Frances barely recognises her old friend Merry, pureeing baby food, baking, living the Swedish dream. But little by little, cracks begin to show in her carefully constructed fairy tale. And Frances starts to see things others might miss. Dark and treacherous things. And then a terrible tragedy unfolds… MY REVIEW I just ... this is ... what the hell ... oh my god! After turning the final page on this novel my thoughts are jumbled, horrified, and absolutely shocked because YOU WERE MADE FOR THIS by Michelle Sacks is unlike anything I have read in a very long time. In a stunning Swedish forest lives the perfect family. Having escaped the rat race of New York, Merry, Sam and their beautiful little baby boy have everything they ever wanted and time to experience what really matters and make memories together. They are officially living the dream. Or are they? For underneath the facade lives lies, secrecy, and abuse and when Merry's childhood friend Frank, who knows her better than anyone, arrives for a visit, their perfect life is set to come tumbling down around them with horrific consequences. This book is haunting, upsetting, and completely disturbing but it is also compelling and hypnotic in a way that will have you sitting up all night to discover what really happens. Merry, Sam, and Frank are all unlikeable characters and all disturbed and disturbing in their own right but they suck you in and open up their world to you, and you will never be the same again. This is not an easy thriller to read but a dark and twisted psychological tale of abuse, control. and haunting secrets and I completely understand why the marketing team for this story is using the hashtag #ReadThis because to really understand the depths of this story, you simply must read this book. An unbelievable and harrowing debut novel from this very talented author. AUTHOR BIO Michelle Sacks was born in Cape Town, South Africa.
