ABOUT THIS BOOK
IT ONLY TAKES A MOMENT TO UNRAVEL A PERFECT LIFE . . .
When Grace’s fiancé vanishes without a trace the night after proposing, her life is turned upside down. But has Nick walked out on her, or is he in danger?
As Grace desperately searches for answers, it soon becomes clear that Nick wasn’t the uncomplicated man she thought she knew. And when she uncovers a hidden tragedy from his childhood, she realises an awful truth: that you can run from your past – but your secrets will always catch up with you . . .
Gripping from the very first page, THE NIGHT YOU LEFT by Emma Curtis is a psychological thriller that will enthral your mind while making your skin chill, and is definitely up there as one of my top reads in this genre this year.
When Nick proposes out of the blue one afternoon, Grace is over the moon. Her life with Nick and her daughter is everything she ever hoped for and everything she thought she may never have. But when Nick goes for a walk that evening and doesn't arrive home, Grace is thrown into a panic. Did something awful happen to him? Could he have left her? Is he with another woman? And as Grace sets out to uncover the truth, she quickly realises that there is so much about Nick's past that she never knew about and it seems that his past and present have collided. But Grace knows the real Nick and she knows that he would never willingly walk away from their wonderful life together. One thing is for certain, she will not stop until she knows the truth no matter how hard, or dangerous, that may be.
Instantly thrown into the story, I enjoyed the alternate chapters moving from the present situation where Nick is missing, to flashbacks of Nick's teenage years which has shaped him greatly. The characters are excellently portrayed and I found myself warming to Grace immediately even though it is obvious that she has her own hidden secrets too. Obsession, revenge, tragedy, and twisted memories are all the order of the day in this book and there is honestly never a dull moment from start to finish.
THE NIGHT YOU LEFT by Emma Curtis puts the psychological into psychological thriller and I highly recommend this corker of a story to all fans of this genre. I look forward to more from this author.
Emma Curtis was born in Brighton and now lives in London with her husband. After raising two children and working various jobs, her fascination with the darker side of domestic life inspired her to write her acclaimed psychological suspense thrillers One Little Mistake, When I Find You and The Night You Left.
