ABOUT THIS BOOK

Rich and famous? How the other half live doesn’t even come close!

Always looking over her shoulder, anxiety levels soaring, Frankie welcomes her return to the family madhouse, with its familiar ribbing and insults. The chance to take her mind off what still feels so raw, so recent in her screwed-up life. Filling her time with lots of things to do but no thinking time – that had to be good. But then there’s the gentle reminder of those dreaded emails, the feeling of being watched.

Never far away, pain is always lurking beneath the surface. A random shooting? Unlikely . . . And it’s only a matter of time before she’ll have to face it, grieve for her losses and deal with the constant fear that follows her. But is she ready to go there? Can she really be responsible for his death? Something prickles her memory, her fears very real . . . Then the penny drops. A shared past.

Her stomach jumping like a grasshopper on speed and used to faking it, her past fears come back to haunt her, having witnessed something no child ever should. Their relationship fiery and strained, can she learn to trust Dev? Always relied on to be the one who centres her, he throws her off-centre completely. A complication she really doesn’t need, will the cold light of day become her great leveller? Or will she succumb?

As for Dev, photographer at large – pals? Who is he kidding! His affection for Frankie goes much further . . . her voice an arrow to the groin. But will she ever think of him as anything but a “brother”? Or is he doomed to remain just a shoulder to cry on?

MY REVIEW

Compelling, steamy, and with plenty of danger thrown in for good measure, Pamela G. Hobbs is the Irish Nora Roberts and I cannot wait for more from this exciting new series.

Frankie has never lived an ordinary life with an unstable celebrity mother and an unknown father, the only real family she has are the Fitzgeralds in Ireland - her godmother and their family who have treated Frankie like one of their own ever since she came to live with them as a child. But Frankie is all grown up and a successful actress to boot so travelling home is a rarity. But when a stalker takes things to another level, Frankie needs the comfort of those who truly know and love her, especially Dev, with whom she has always had a great connection with. As she settles into the wild Irish countryside, Frankie begins to feel herself relax amongst her loud and chatty family but there is something about Dev and her that feels different. There is a frisson of awareness that she shouldn't be feeling and the more time they spend together, the harder it is to ignore, even if they do drive each mad half the time. But just as Frankie starts to figure out what she wants from her future, the danger from her past surfaces again and this time they are determined to end Frankie for good.

I completely fell in love with the Fitzgerald family and Frankie and this book certainly left me eagerly awaiting the next book in the series!! Frankie is a strong woman who has struggled with plenty of her own issues throughout her life but watching her face the danger head-on and her developing feelings for Dev, was so compelling and emotional. The setting in Clifden took my breath away and as it is my favourite place in the world that is not an easy thing to do.

FAMILY AFFAIRS has got everything you could want - tension, friendship, romance, family love, danger, suspense, and everything in between - and I devoured this story in a couple of hours because I simply had to know what would happen. FAMILY AFFAIRS by Pamela G. Hobbs is the best book I have read this year in this genre and I highly recommend it to all fans of romantic suspense.

AUTHOR BIO

Pamela G Hobbs is an Adult Education Tutor by day and voracious reader and writer by night. She grew up and presently lives in Ireland but spent 12 years in the United States, on both coasts, where her love for romance and suspense novels was first nurtured.
The mother of two grown sons and the minder of a rather ancient three legged cat, she and her landscape gardener husband enjoy fine wine, fine food and fine weather - well the last bit isn't really true - the weather in Ireland is rarely fine.
Other than painting (her original degree is in Art) Pamela's hobbies include reading and ....no that's it - just reading :-)
