ABOUT THE BOOK An exploration of domestic derangement, in the tradition of Daphne du Maurier's classic Rebecca, that plumbs the depths of sibling rivalry with wit and menace. Oh, to be a Beloved: one of those lucky people for whom nothing ever goes wrong. Everything falls into their laps without effort: happiness, beauty, good fortune, allure. Betty Stash is not a Beloved – but her younger sister, the delightful Gloria, is. She's the one with the golden curls, sunny disposition and captivating smile, the one whose best friend used to be Betty's, the one whose husband should have been Betty's. And then, to everyone's surprise, Gloria inherits the family home – a vast, gorgeous pile of ancient stone, imposing timbers, and lush gardens that was never meant to be hers. Losing what Betty considers her rightful inheritance is the final indignity. As she single-mindedly pursues her plan to see the estate returned to her in all its glory, her determined and increasingly unhinged behaviour – aided by poisonous mushrooms, talking walls, and a phantom dog – escalates to the point of no return. The Beloveds will have you wondering if there's a length to which an envious sister won't go. MY REVIEW THE BELOVEDS by Maureen Lindley is a dark, twisted, and utterly compelling novel of obsession, rage, and jealousy, and it is unlike any other novel that I have read before in this genre. Betty Stash hated her sister, Gloria, from the very beginning and as they both grew up, Gloria basking in the love of their mother and everyone else around them while Betty felt abandoned in the shadows, Betty nurtured that hate until it became a writhing, breathing monster that she hid under a cool facade of calm and duty. The only thing that keeps Betty sane, if you can call it that, is her connection with her home, Pipits. It calls to her and understands her in ways that nobody could ever understand. But when her mother leaves Pipits to Gloria and her husband Henry, it is the final straw for Betty who cannot stand to see her home tarnished by those she loathes and she will do whatever it takes to take back what is hers ... This story is told completely from the point of view of Betty which is terrifying and compelling all rolled into one. Hate, revenge, imagined slights, and obsessive, psychotic behaviour are staples throughout this intriguing plot from beginning to end and like watching an accident unfold before your eyes, you are horrified but cannot look away. The characters are really different in THE BELOVEDS - I felt sorry for Gloria and Henry even though I felt they were a little naive at times and as for Betty she is such an unlikeable character and downright repellant at times, yet you still need to know her story, need to know how it all will end. Now the ending will divide opinion - for me, I wanted to know more, it left me wanting more - but probably echoes reality a little more than most novels (and that is all that I'm going to say on the matter). THE BELOVEDS by Maureen Lindley opens up a world of spite, hate, and murderous intent and is definitely a novel worth reading! AUTHOR BIO Maureen Lindley was born in Berkshire and grew up in Scotland. She was trained as a psychotherapist and also worked as a photographer, antique dealer and a dress designer before writing her first book, The Private Papers of Eastern Jewel. Maureen lives in the Wye valley on the Welsh borders with her husband. For more information: Website - maureenlindley.com DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT ALL OF THE OTHER STOPS ALONG THE WAY!!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK Angie Shepherd is back and this time she means business! Life is perfect for Angie Shepherd. Her dreams of becoming an entrepreneur have come true, business is booming, and her best friend Patty is back in town. So when the opportunity of investing in a luxury hotel comes up, it seems like a no-brainer. It's all going swimmingly until a rival travel agency opens up across the street. Before long, The Mercury Travel Club is undercut, double-crossed and in deep trouble. It's time for Angie to up the stakes. But with costs mounting up, sales going down, and her personal life suddenly in freefall, can Angie and her friends weather the storm? Witty and charming in equal measure, this feel-good novel shows that when the going gets tough, the tough definitely get going. MY REVIEW Angie Shepherd and her wonderful, crazy friends are back in THE HEAT IS ON by Helen Bridgett and boy did I miss them! After all that has happened to her over the past few years, Angie Shepherd's life is finally back on track with a successful career that she loves, friends that are worth cherishing, a new home on the horizon, and a lovely man to cuddle up with. Things are finally on the up. That is until they aren't. When a new travel agency opens their doors across the road from Mercury Travel, Angie, Charlie and the gang hope for the best, but they hadn't bet on Lorenzo to be so hostile and as their sales plummet, they really need to do something fast before it shatters their new business venture to smithereens. Throw in relationship woes in the form of insecurities and intimacy issues, some crazy shenanigans, and a mother who isn't backward in coming forwards, and Angie definitely has her hands full. But with the help of those who love her, will they be able to steer their way back to happiness and success? As with her previous novel, Helen Bridgett has such a flair with her narrative that you instantly feel like part of the gang and you cannot wait to turn the next page. There are moments of pure laughter, fun, and drama, while all the while you will fall even more in love with these loveable characters. While you can certainly read THE HEAT IS ON as a standalone novel, why read one fabulous book when you can read two (The Mercury Travel Club)?? THE HEAT IS ON by Helen Bridgett is compelling, hilarious, hopeful, and just a perfect read for this Summer and I highly recommend it!! ABOUT THE BOOK From New York Times bestselling author Catherine Ryan Hyde comes a bittersweet novel about healing old wounds and finding a new place to call home… Roseanna Chaldecott spent her life as a high-powered lawyer in Manhattan. But when her best friend and law partner dies suddenly, something snaps. Unsure of her future, Roseanna heads upstate on one tank of gas and with no plans to return. In the foothills of the Adirondacks, Roseanna discovers the perfect hideout in a ramshackle farm. Its seventy-six acres are rich with possibilities and full of surprises, including a mother and daughter squatting on the property. Although company is the last thing Roseanna wants, she reluctantly lets them stay. Roseanna and the young girl begin sculpting junk found around the farm into zoo animals, drawing more newcomers—including her estranged son, Lance. He pleads with Roseanna to return to the city, but she’s finally discovered where she belongs. It may not provide the solitude she originally sought, but her heart has found room for much more. MY REVIEW With HEAVEN ADJACENT by Catherine Ryan Hyde, I definitely got more than I bargained for with a storyline that is rich in detail, full of depth, and very thought-provoking. Roseanna Chaldecott had it all but when her best friend suddenly dies, it prompts Roseanna to change her life so drastically that most people don't even know where she is. Finding herself in the stunning Adirondacks, Roseanna finds solace in an old farm with land as far as the eye can see. But she also finds that she isn't as alone as she hoped she would be and these unusual squatters seem to be growing on her. But when a reporter finds her, it will bring Roseanna's past and present hurtling together with some unexpected consequences. This is a story that will really make you stop and think about what matters in your life. Take away all of the materialistic stuff that we have surrounded ourselves with and what do you really need around you to make you happy? This is the type of question that this book will have you asking. For me, the answer is my family, and family plays an important role in this story too. Compelling, emotional, and stirring, HEAVEN ADJACENT by Catherine Ryan Howard is definitely worth reading. Book length - 288 pages Publisher - Urbane Publications Book Depository - www.bookdepository.com Amazon UK - www.amazon.co.uk Amazon US - www.amazon.com I want to thank Evie for the opportunity to take part in this blog tour and for providing me with a copy of this book for review. ABOUT THE BOOK A beautiful and mysterious historical romance from the author of The Heirloom and The Mysterious Bakery on Rue de Paris. Thornwood Village, 1910. Anna, a young farm girl, volunteers to help an intriguing American visitor, Harold Griffin-Krauss, translate 'fairy stories' from Irish to English. But all is not as it seems and Anna soon finds herself at the heart of a mystery that threatens the future of her community and her very way of life.... Captivated by the land of myth, folklore and superstition, Sarah Harper finds herself walking in the footsteps of Harold and Anna one hundred years later, unearthing dark secrets that both enchant and unnerve. The Story Collector treads the intriguing line between the everyday and the otherworldly, the seen and the unseen. With a taste for the magical in everyday life, Evie Gaughan's latest novel is full of ordinary characters with extraordinary tales to tell. Perfect for fans of Jess Kidd and Eowyn Ivey. MY REVIEW Oh wow, my heart is simply bursting with love for this magical and special story that really took my breath away. Struggling with grief and loss, Sarah Harper is lost and alone so when she drunkenly decides to travel to Ireland at Christmas instead of to her sister's home in Boston, everyone is a little concerned for her welfare, including Sarah herself when she realises what she has done. But the wild beauty and serenity of Ireland soon calms her troubled soul and when she discovers an old diary in the hollow of a tree, an enchanting and at times heartbreaking story unfolds which will help Sarah deal with her own problems. As the story moves from past to present, from Anna's life all those years ago to Sarah's life in the present day, there is so much that these two ladies have in common and I easily fell into the swell and sway of this beautifully written tale. I smiled, I cried, and I felt the magic in each and every page of THE STORY COLLECTOR by Evie Gaughan and have felt myself the unexplained magic that certain places in my beautiful country hold - nothing substantial, just a feeling that there is something more to this ancient land that we have forgotten about in our hectic, modern lives. THE STORY COLLECTOR by Evie Gaughan is a story of love, loss, family, and heritage that will spark the magic in your soul and make it a book that will find a special place on your bookshelf where you can escape into it again when a little enchantment is needed. A truly excellent story. MY OWN SPOOKY TALE As part of this blog tour, Evie kindly asked if we had any of our own otherworldly tales to add to keep the magic of the seanachaí alive and while this isn't my own story, it is one that has been told amongst my own family many a time. Both of my parents grew up in rural Ireland and fell in love at a young age. While travelling to a local party in their car they came around the corner of a road that has the reputation of being haunted by a man that is monstrous in size, supposedly killed many years ago. . Many in the area swore that they had seen this spectre while those who didn't believe it scoffed. Well, on this particular night my parents drove around the corner, when lo and behold, a gigantic man (at least 12 ft tall according to my dad) appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the road, forcing my parents to swerve to avoid hitting him. In shock they both jumped out of the car, only to find the road empty and no sign of the man. As an adult I have questioned whether it could have been two people on each others shoulders playing a prank, or a shadow from a nearby tree, but this is always dismissed by my parents as they explained that the road has just low, empty, fields to the side and if it was someone human they would have been able to see them running away. They know what they saw and it wasn't of this world. And while I love the magic and haunting sound of this story, I avoid that road when driving in that area!! AUTHOR BIO Evie Gaughan is a writer and artist living in Galway City, beside the sea. Her books are a mix of genres, incorporating her love of history and a penchant for magic in the everyday. The Heirloom is Evie's debut novel and is a time-slip epic set in Ireland during medieval times, with a parallel story in the present day. Her second novel, The Mysterious Bakery On Rue De Paris is a magical tale set in France, with a heart-warming cast of characters. Her upcoming novel, The Story Collector, is due for release in Autumn 2018 with Urbane Publications. ABOUT THE BOOK Escape to the heart of enchanting Brittany with the bestselling author of The Villa and The Little Theatre by the Sea. The perfect treat for fans of Santa Montefiore and Veronica Henry. For many years Colette has avoided returning to her homeland - the magical island of Belle-Île-en-Mer in Southern Brittany - afraid to confront the painful memories she left behind. She is living on the Cornish coast when she hears about her mother Thea's failing health and realises that the time has come for her to go home. But can Colette ever forgive Thea for what she has done? Despite Colette's wariness, romantic Belle-Île still fascinates her. She takes on the running of her mother's flower shop and makes friends with Élodie from the Old Lighthouse where Thea once worked as a nanny and with the enigmatic Étienne who shares Colette's mixed feelings about the island. As Thea opens up to her for the first time, Colette finds herself softening and being drawn back into the landscape of her past. But can Belle-Île also be a part of her future? The ghosts of that past still linger. What happened all those years ago and how did it cause the rift between mother and daughter? It becomes clear that the beauty of Belle-Île hides a devastating family secret - one that Colette is determined to unravel at any cost. MY REVIEW HER MOTHER'S SECRET by Rosanna Ley is a breathtaking tale of family, secrets, and relationships with the beauty and magnificence of a little French town as a backdrop. Colette escaped from her homeland, Belle-île, all those years ago and has avoided returning back ever since. It holds hard memories for her ever since her father died and she has never really forgiven her mother for always working in her beloved flower shop and for the argument she overheard when she was a teenager. But now her mother is gravely ill and Colette knows that she must return to do what she can and as she finds herself falling back into the flow of village life and the serenity to be found in running the store, maybe Colette will finally be able to speak to her mother about the past and discover the secrets that have haunted them all. HER MOTHER'S SECRET by Rosanna Ley is a story that is rich in characters and descriptions and you really can see everything in your mind as you fall deeper into this compelling plotline. Alongside Colette and Thea (her mother), we also get to see into the lives of Étienne, Élodie, and Mathilde, all connected in one way or another, and all bearing secrets that burden them greatly. The complicated relationships are key throughout this tale and it was truly an experience to witness these characters, who I had come to care deeply for, face the past in order to find peace in the future. HER MOTHER'S SECRET by Rosanna Ley is simply outstanding and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author. AUTHOR BIO Rosanna Ley has worked as a creative writing tutor for over 15 years. Affiliated to several colleges and universities in England, she also runs her own writing courses in the UK and abroad. She has worked with community groups in therapeutic settings and completed an MA in creative writing for personal development in order to support this. Her writing holidays and retreats take place in stunning locations in Italy and Spain and whilst not teaching or writing she mentors and appraises the work of new writers. Rosanna has had numerous articles and short stories published in UK magazines, and 12 novels of contemporary fiction published in the U.K, Germany, Greece and the U.S.A under a pseudonym. Her books are inspired by the culture and landscapes of Italy, Sicily and the Canary Islands and feature strong female voices from the past and present, along with an intense undercurrent of mystery and romance. Rosanna spends some time every year travelling around Europe looking for writing inspiration and more tranquil settings for writing holidays. She loves cliff walking and her favourite writing place is somewhere with a sea view. When she is not travelling, Rosanna lives with her artist husband in a Victorian cottage in West Dorset by the sea. ABOUT THE BOOK Imagine you meet a man, spend six glorious days together, and fall in love. And it’s mutual: you’ve never been so certain of anything. So when he leaves for a long-booked holiday and promises to call from the airport, you have no cause to doubt him. But he doesn’t call. Your friends tell you to forget him, but you know they're wrong: something must have happened; there must be a reason for his silence. What do you do when you finally discover you're right? That there is a reason -- and that reason is the one thing you didn't share with each other? The truth. MY REVIEW Boy, when I picked up THE MAN WHO DIDN'T CALL by Rosie Walsh I expected an entertaining read (which it is) but I did not expect such a twisting tale of love, loss, guilt, and grief that would take my breath away and make me ache for the characters that I came to love so much. Sarah knows what it's like to lose someone you love and when she left for L.A. all those years ago she was determined to reinvent herself into the strong and capable person that she wishes she had always been. Now separated, Sarah is home for her annual visit to the UK which always brings back difficult memories, when she meets Eddie. Wonderful, caring, unique Eddie and in the space of one amazing week they fall in love. With promises of being together when he gets back from a trip, Sarah realises that she has never loved like this before. But when Eddie doesn't call and appears to have fallen off the social media grid, Sarah is desperate to uncover the truth. Their connection was real, wasn't it? But as Sarah begins to dig deeper with the help of her friends, the truth may be so much harder to deal with than all of the crazy scenarios that are running through her head ... for everyone. THE MAN WHO DIDN'T CALL by Rosie Walsh is a superb story that really gets the heart and the emotion of the plot bang on as I cried, smiled and ached for Sarah at every new development. The story moves from the present when Sarah is trying to discover where Eddie is, to their magical seven days together, and this lets us really see them and get to know them properly. There is tension, heartbreak, sadness, and loss, but there is also hope and joy, and the healing power of love is shown to perfection. THE MAN WHO DIDN'T CALL by Rosie Walsh is everything you want in a novel and I could not put it down - I blame the author for my laundry piling up 😜 - and I think this book would translate perfectly onto our screens. A must-read for 2018!! AUTHOR BIO Rosie Walsh has lived and travelled all over the world, working as a documentary producer and writer. The Man Who Didn't Call is her first book under her own name. She lives in Bristol with her partner and son. ABOUT THE BOOK Megan Hamilton never really liked Elliot Bailey. He turned his back on her family when they needed him the most and it almost tore them all apart. So she’s shocked when Elliot arrives at her family’s inn, needing a place to stay and asking questions that dredge up the past. Megan will rent him a cottage, but that’s where it ends—no matter how gorgeous Elliot has become. Coming back home to Haven Point was the last thing bestselling writer Elliot Bailey thought he’d ever do. But the book he’s writing now is his most personal one yet and it’s drawn him back to the woman he can’t get out of his mind. Seeing Megan again is harder than he expected and it brings up feelings he’d thought were long buried. Could this be his chance to win over his first love? MY REVIEW RaeAnne Thayne has done it again with her latest instalment in the Haven Point series and I will even go as far as saying that this novel is my favourite one so far!! Megan Hamilton didn't dream of owning and running her grandmother's inn after her granny passed away but she loves Haven Point and her family needs her now more than ever. When her sister-in-law disappeared seven years ago, the cloud of suspicion hung over her brother Luke and has followed him and his two beautiful children around ever since. But Megan knows more than anyone that Luke would never hurt anyone, especially after the horrific childhood they had both endured but some people just don't want to see the truth. And one of those people is Elliot Bailey, a former friend of Luke's, and noted FBI agent and author. When he rolls back into town and stays at the inn, Megan is determined to avoid him at all costs which shouldn't be hard as he doesn't seem particularly fond of her either. But when he starts looking into Elisabeth's disappearance, Megan wants to make sure that he doesn't stir up more trouble for her brother. But as they spend more time together it seems that neither of them really know each other and what they discover is so much more than either one expected ... I loved Megan and her protective relationship towards her family, and Elliot is a little mysterious but such a good guy who wants to help people and I love watching them get to know each other. With stunning settings that will take your breath away, engaging and likeable characters and a gripping plotline, THE COTTAGES ON SILVER BEACH by RaeAnne Thayne is the perfect read this Summer and a must for romantic and general fiction fans everywhere. AUTHOR BIO I'm not one of those people who knew from birth she was destined to become a writer. I always loved to read and throughout my childhood I could usually be found with a book in my hands. To the disgust of my friends, I even enjoyed creative writing assignments that made them all groan. But I had other dreams besides writing. I wanted to be an actress or a teacher or a lawyer. Life took a different turn for me, though, when my mother made me take a journalism elective in high school (thanks, Mom!). I knew the first day that this was where I belonged. After I graduated from college in journalism, I took a job at the local daily newspaper and I reveled in the challenge and the diversity of it. One day I could be interviewing the latest country music star, the next day I was writing about local motorcycle gangs or interviewing an award-winning scientist. Through it all -- through the natural progression of my career from reporter to editor -- I wrote stories in my head. Not just any stories, either, but romances, the kind of books I have devoured since junior high school, with tales about real people going through the trials and tribulations of life until they find deep and lasting love. I had no idea how to put these people on paper, but knew I had to try -- their stories were too compelling for me to ignore. I sold my first book in 1995 and now, more than 30 books later, I've come to love everything about writing, from the click of the computer keys under my fingers to the "that's-it!" feeling I get when a story is flowing. I write full-time now (well, as full-time as I can manage juggling my kids!) amid the raw beauty of the northern Utah mountains. Even though I might not have dreamed of being a writer when I was younger, now I simply can't imagine my life any other way. ABOUT THE BOOK The lives and loves of five privileged daughters of a Colorado political family.... Rich. Smart. Beautiful. Talented. And they even get along....Mostly. The five Carmichael sisters lucked out in the game of life, but their privilege doesn't protect them from troubles and heartbreak. Read all five contemporary romance novellas newly revised and together for the first time! CORINNE wants her independence, but when tragedy strikes her family she relies on her new French boyfriend for support. Headstrong DAISY goes after what she wants as a financial journalist, but the guy she wants keeps her at arm's length. VALERIE, still shaken by past trauma, is surprised when her feelings for her E.R. doctor grow beyond friendship. MARIE is just getting started as a sportswriter so she really shouldn't fall for her first subject, the newly-drafted quarterback. SAMANTHA has crushed on her college advisor for a year but now that she's about to graduate maybe she finally has a shot. MY REVIEW When I was given the opportunity to review THE CARMICHAELS by Charlotte Penn Clark I had planned to read one or two of the stories and dip into it when and if I had time, but that is not what happened. After reading Corinne's story I was hooked and I devoured the other stories about this famous and influential family that at its heart and core is just like any other with its problems, secrets, friendship, and love issues. Corinne is determined to show her independence to her family who has never really understood her but sometimes things never go to plan... Daisy is tough and stubborn and is used to getting what she wants in the world of financial journalism but how can she make that special someone really see her for who is underneath? Valerie has buried the past but when a friendship starts to become more will she be able to open up her heart? Marie and sport have always gone hand-in-hand and now she has a lucrative career as a sportswriter ahead of her - that is if she doesn't go and blow it all by falling for her first story... And finally Samantha is about to graduate and maybe just maybe, it is time she opened up about her feelings for a very special someone. There is wealth, stunning settings, and moments of pure love and chemistry which all combine to make this boxset the perfect read for romance fans all around the world. The Carmichael women are all engaging characters with intelligence and spirit and I desperately wanted them to find their happily ever after wherever that may be. Each book is around 155 pages (give or take) but I can honestly say that time flew as I read one story after another. THE CARMICHAELS by Charlotte Penn Clark is a cracking romantic boxset that is sure to warm your heart and make you fall in love with love again. AUTHOR BIO Charlotte Penn Clark writes sweet-sexy New Adult and contemporary novellas that take romance seriously. As an avid romance reader, she used to spin love stories in her head until she finally started to write them down two years ago. She has studied English literature and taught college composition, but now she enjoys playing matchmaker to friends and enemies, geeks and nerds, jocks and bookworms.
