Teaching is all Lucy knows and she's determined to get back in the classroom as fast as she can. Except the only job on offer is at an idyllic village school in the middle of nowhere – Lucy's idea of hell. Where are the disadvantaged kids who need saving, where is the challenge? But as Lucy finds herself welcomed into the warm-hearted community of Langtry Meadows, she begins to realise new challenges await – like frogs in the classroom, a rather difficult donkey, and a very brooding local vet… Local boy Charlie Davenport has his own issues about living in the close-knit village of Langtry Meadows. His private life is already fuel for the well-meaning gossips and the very last thing he needs is to get close to the new school teacher…no matter how lovely she is. But as summer days drift away Langtry Meadows weaves its magic, Charlie and Lucy both get the chance to turn over a new leaf and start anew…maybe with each other? A fun, romantic story to make you smile and long for your own country escape. MY REVIEW If you want an entertaining read full of captivating characters, a picture-perfect village community, hilarious antics, and a little romance thrown in for good measure, then SUMMER WITH THE COUNTRY VILLAGE VET by Zara Stoneley is a perfect choice. Lucy Jacobs is stunned when she is laid off from her teaching job in the city. Ever since her tumultuous childhood, she has planned and controlled everything in her life to ensure that massive upheavals like this do not happen. With a mortgage to pay, Lucy takes a teaching job in the countryside of Langtry Meadows. While for some this would be the perfect setting to settle down and start a new chapter, this is not the case for Lucy who likes to lose herself among the hustle and bustle of city life. But it is not long before Lucy realises that Langtry Meadows has a lot to offer, including the devilishly handsome Charlie Davenport who also seems to be struggling with elements of his past. Who knows, maybe this city girl could become a country convert if she could just take a risk... I really enjoyed all of the characters in this story, and am already eagerly anticipating my next visit to Langtry Meadows. The plot is well-paced throughout with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments along the way. SUMMER WITH THE COUNTRY VILLAGE VET by Zara Stoneley is the perfect summer read and I highly recommend it. Author Bio: Zara Stoneley was born in a small village in Staffordshire and wanted to be James Herriot when she grew up. After completing an IT degree, working as a consultant, running a dog grooming business, teaching, and working at a veterinary practice she decided she had more than enough material to write several books even if she would never qualify as a vet! She lives in Cheshire with her family and a very bossy cat, and loves spending time in sunny Barcelona. Zara is currently writing a new series, the first book ‘Summer with the Country Village Vet’, published by HarperCollins is available now – discover a hot vet and the most gorgeous country village ever! I must confess that I do sometimes judge a book by its cover and I feel that an eye-catching cover can go a long way to selling a book especially when it is from an author that I have never read before. It doesn't matter what format the book is in (ebook/paperback/hardback) a good cover is important. So I decided to start a new monthly feature to show some cover love, where I will gather together whatever covers have caught my eye during the month and give my favourite a book spotlight. So the month of May had some AMAZING covers, some of the books I have read and some of which I have not, and here are my selection:
But it is the cover of UNDER AN AMBER SKY by Rose Alexander that just transfixed me and had me looking at it over and over again. The colours, the town nestled into the hillside, the water - it all combines to make you feel like you are there, standing at that wall with the heat bearing down on you, looking out at the sea. It makes you want to be there, and reading the story is the next best thing! Here is the info about where to buy this book: Release date - 24th May 2017

Book length - 308 pages Publisher - Self-Published Amazon UK - www.amazon.co.uk Amazon US - www.amazon.com ABOUT THE BOOK What happens when London’s longest reigning rake decides to make mischief? Born of scandal and raised in squalor, Miss Harry O’Connell turned her back on her feckless, frivolous father and carved out a life for herself in the working-class neighborhood of Wellclose Square. She’s a creature of habit, a stickler for schedules, a keeper of secrets, and a woman adamantly opposed to wasting so much a single minute – let alone a spare shilling – on useless endeavors, sentimental nonsense or impossible expectations. Opposites attract… With three men standing between Phineas Griffith and the nearest title, he was perfectly content to float through life on a wave of mistakes, mishaps, coincidences and luck. Two unfortunate accidents and an apoplectic fit later, the new Viscount Knighton finds himself saddled with a decimated estate, a mountain of debt and two sisters in need of launching into Society in tandem. There’s really nothing for it but to woo and wed an heiress post haste. Orbits align… An unwelcome visit from the Earl of Dunaway sets in motion a convoluted chain of events that put Harry on a collision course with the handsome fortune-hunter. And wreak havoc with her meticulously managed, precisely timed and exactingly organized life. Worlds collide… Phineas cannot afford the luxury of falling in love with a prickly, pragmatic and penniless woman. Harry hasn’t the time or inclination to dally with a charming rake when all her considerable talents are aimed at laying waste to all the Earl of Dunaway holds dear. And chaos ensues. Some forces are greater than gravity and some chances worth taking. Can these two star crossed-lovers find the wherewithal to risk it all for a happily-ever-after that defies all odds? MY REVIEW Having read a lot of crime fiction lately I decided it was time to mix it up genre-wise for my next read and decided that a good dose of Historical romance was in order. COURTING CHAOS by Lynne Barron is the second book in the Dunaway's Daughters series, but having never read the first book, this can easily be read on its own. In this captivating tale, we meet Miss Hesperia Eris O'Connell, also known as Harry, as she lives her organised, controlled life exactly how she likes it - with the absence of her biological father. We also meet Phineas, a man who never taught he would find himself in the privileged position of Viscount, and who now desperately needs to marry an heiress. Two intriguing characters that stand out among this genre, there is so much more than meets the eye with these two. With plenty of drama, scandal and deep emotions, there is so much activity to keep you entertained and care about the characters. Harry is truly independent, intelligent, and unafraid of the world, and I really liked her spirit and attitude. COURTING CHAOS by Lynne Barron is a wonderful historical romance with plenty of danger, romance, and intrigue to keep you gripped, and I highly recommend it. Author Bio: Write About What You Know. Every Creative Writing Teacher and College Professor said these words to Lynne Barron in one form or another. But what did she know? She knew she enjoyed the guilty pleasure of reading romance novels whenever she could find time between studying, working and raising her son as a single mother. She knew quite a bit about women's lives in the Regency and Victorian era from years spent bouncing back and forth between European History and English Literature as a major in college. She knew precious little about romance except to know that it was more than the cliché card and a dozen red roses on Valentine's Day. Then she met her wonderfully romantic husband and finally she knew. Passion, Love and Romance. And she began to write. However, in order to triumph, they must find a way to vanquish their doubts and build an alliance that can withstand the devastation of war and a king determined to sacrifice anything—and anyone—to keep his throne. MY REVIEW WHEN A HIGHLANDER LOSES HIS HEART by Julie Johnstone is the fourth book in the Highlander Vows: Entangled Hearts series, and is another captivating and engrossing tale of love, secrets, and betrayal set in historical Scotland. Raised in a convent since she was little, Isobel knows that her family loves her and when she finds herself as a pawn, she longs to return to the safety of those she loves. For Isobel is due to inherit a very important castle on the day that she marries, and for that reason alone she is in grave danger. But as Graham and Isobel spend time together, they both begin to understand each other like no-one else ever has. With danger, secrets, and lies at every turn, can the man who should be an enemy be the protector and companion that could change everything? WHEN A HIGHLANDER LOSES HIS HEART by Julie Johnstone has really well-developed characters that make you jump into the story with them. Graham is plagued by his past but yearns for more from his life. Isobel is strong and determined and I really like her spirit. This novel is fast-paced, energetic, and has plenty of sizzle as well as suspense. WHEN A HIGHLANDER LOSES HIS HEART by Julie Johnstone is perfect for historical romance fans everywhere and I highly recommend it. As an adult, Julie is one of the lucky few who can say she is living the dream by working with her passion of creating worlds from her imagination.
