ABOUT THIS BOOK Will Gold Valley’s most honorable cowboy finally claim the woman he’s always wanted? For as long as brooding cowboy Ryder Daniels has known Sammy Marshall, she has been his sunshine. Her free spirit and bright smile saved him after the devastating loss of his parents and gave him the strength to care for his orphaned family. Only Ryder knows how vulnerable Sammy is, so he’s kept his attraction for his best friend under wraps for years. But what Sammy’s asking for now might be a step too far… Something has been missing from Sammy’s life, and she thinks she knows what it is. Deciding she wants a baby is easy; realizing she wants her best friend to be the father is…complicated. Especially when a new heat between them sparks to life! When Sammy discovers she’s pregnant, Ryder makes it clear he wants it all. But having suffered the fallout of her parents’ disastrous relationship, Sammy is wary of letting Ryder too close. This cowboy will have to prove he’s proposing out of more than just honor… MY REVIEW Beautifully crafted characters, a wonderful setting, and a romance that will make your heart beat right out of your chest, and you've got THE HERO OF HOPE SPRINGS by Maisey Yates. Sammy Marshall is spontaneous and bright, always jumping into situations and thinking later, and after her abusive childhood, she deserves to do things whatever way she wants to. So when she decides she wants to have a baby, it doesn't exactly shock those that love her, especially her best friend Ryder. Ryder has and always will be her protector and his family became her family many years ago, so it's only natural that she asks his help in finding a suitable man for her. But when the atmosphere shifts between them it may just open up their eyes to possibilities that could change everything ... Ryder knows what it's like to lose someone you love and he has dedicated his life caring for his family, and Sammy whom he has always protected. But when Sammy suggests having a baby with a stranger it opens up the floodgates to the feelings he has buried deep inside for so many years. But can he convince Sammy that this heat between them could work long-term and that she can trust him with her heart? Romantic, sweet, sexy, emotional, are all words that I would use to describe this enjoyable story. While it is part of a series, THE HERO OF HOPE SPRINGS can easily be read as a standalone novel, but trust me when I say that this book will leave you wanting to read them all! Sammy is a wonderful character who is trying to come-to-terms with her past and is afraid to open herself up completely to what could be between her and Ryder. She is strong and independent but also vulnerable when it comes to believing in love, and I wanted her to trust herself and Ryder in their new relationship. Ryder is a solid character who has always put everyone else's needs before his own but letting his feelings show for Sammy is the first step in Ryder going after his own dreams and I wanted him to reach for the stars again. THE HERO OF HOPE SPRINGS by Maisey Yates is a first-rate romance and I cannot wait to read everything that Maisey has written as I'm definitely a huge fan. AUTHOR BIO Maisey Yates started writing stories from the moment she first learned how to form words with a pen. But she never had any idea what to write, and most stories sat started, half formed and half finished, but never completed. During her high school and college years she spent a lot of time dreaming about holding a book in her hands that had her name emblazoned across the front, but she did a lot more dreaming than actual writing. At her very first job she was fortunate enough to meet her very own tall, dark and handsome hero, who happened to be her boss, and promptly married him and started a family. It wasn’t until she was pregnant with her second child that she found her very first Harlequin Presents in a local thrift store. She’d never read a Harlequin romance before, and by the time she’d reached the happily ever after she had fallen in love. She devoured as many as she could get her hands on after that, and she knew that these were the books she wanted to write! Soon after that she saw online that Harlequin was running a competition to win an editor for a year. She decided that was her sign to get in gear and start writing again. So she wrote her chapter and synopsis and hit send with trembling hands. She didn’t get any feedback from the contest, but it was the boost she needed to get her first full manuscript finished and submitted to Presents. Nearly two years later, while pregnant with her third child, she received The Call from her editor, informing her they wanted to buy that manuscript. She was very glad that the good news didn’t send her promptly into labor! She still can’t quite believe she’s blessed enough to see her name on, not just any book, but her favorite books. Maisey lives with her supportive, wonderful, diaper-changing husband and three small children across the street from her parents, and the home she grew up in, in the wilds of Southern Oregon. She enjoys the contrast of living in a place where you might wake up to find a bear on your back porch and then heading into the home office to write stories that take place in exotic, urban locales. ABOUT THIS BOOK Pride meets prejudice - can love blossom? Beautiful young widow Lady Eliza Wyndham is determined never to remarry after a disastrous first marriage. The undeniable attraction that fizzes between her and Major Nathaniel Overton terrifies her. She rejects his advances. With his pride badly dented, Nat vows to forget Eliza until he finds her in danger from an old adversary of his army days. His protective instincts are stirred and he steps back into her life, but will Eliza be prepared to accept his help? MY REVIEW Everything you could possibly want in a Regency romance, A GOOD MATCH FOR THE MAJOR has it, and then some more for good measure. After an abusive first marriage, Lady Eliza is determined to remain single and live a contented life alone. So when she meets her new neighbour she doesn't want to notice his handsome face or his pleasant personality when he isn't driving her crazy, that is. She makes it very clear that she wants nothing to do with him, even though deep down, Nathaniel Overton stirs something inside her that Eliza thought long dead. Nat has worked hard to create the life he now has and while some will always look down on him, he will not let them bother him. But it hurts him when Eliza cuts him down especially when they were becoming friends. But when he discovers a dangerous plot involving Eliza, he will do whatever it takes to protect her and keep her safe. She may not want him but he wants her to be free and happy. As Eliza battles with herself and Nat battles to protect her, can they both find salve in each other's arms? Romantic and dangerous, with excellent characters that feel like family, and a rich, historical setting, A GOOD MATCH FOR THE MAJOR by Josie Bonham is the perfect historical romance. There is never a dull moment in this story and I found myself really caring about Eliza and Nat, and wanting them to open up to each other and be honest about everything. A GOOD MATCH FOR THE MAJOR is an excellent start to what is sure to be an exciting new series and I cannot wait for the next book from Josie Bonham. AUTHOR BIO Josie lives in the English midlands, surrounded by towns full of history such as Evesham, Stratford-Upon- Avon, Warwick and Worcester. Which is perhaps why her favourite reads are historical. Out of all the periods to choose from the Regency Era stirs her imagination the most. The true Regency lasted from 1811 until 1820 but dates as wide as 1789 to 1837 have been included in the extended Regency period. For Josie the true flavour of this era emerges after the iniquitous hair powder tax of 1795, unsurprisingly, scuppered the fashion for hair powder almost overnight. Josie has always dabbled in stories but it took the combined efforts of her sister and eldest niece to set her on the path to writing novels. Her Regency romances, with a dash of adventure and intrigue, are the result. Despite the 'help' of her cat who considers a writing session at the computer an invitation to demand attention. ABOUT THIS BOOK Two friends go on holiday. Only one comes back. Orla and Kate have been best friends forever. Together they’ve faced it all – be it Orla’s struggles as a new mother or Kate’s messy divorce. And whatever else happens in their lives, they can always look forward to their annual weekend away. This year, they’re off to Lisbon: the perfect flat, the perfect view, the perfect itinerary. And what better way to kick things off in style than with the perfect night out? But when Orla wakes up the next morning, Kate is gone. Brushed off by the police and with only a fuzzy memory of the night’s events, Orla is her friend’s only hope. As she frantically retraces their steps, Orla makes a series of shattering discoveries that threaten everything she holds dear. Because while Lisbon holds the secret of what happened that night, the truth may lie closer to home… MY REVIEW THE WEEKEND AWAY by Sarah Alderson is a compelling and exciting psychological thriller that will have you sitting up all night so you can get to the end and find out the truth. Orla and Kate have been friends forever and even though they don't get to spend as much time together as they used to, Orla knows that Kate will always be her best friend. So when Kate organises a wonderful weekend abroad just for the two of them, Orla cannot wait. This is a chance for Orla to get a break from her new life as a mother and find herself again but it doesn't take long for Orla to realise that she will struggle to keep up with Kate who is still as wild and fun as always. But when Orla wakes up in their apartment to find Kate missing, it will set off a terrifying chain of events, and as Orla tries to untangle what happened that night, will she be prepared for the truth? A truth that could be much darker than anything Orla could ever have imagined ... A fresh idea with plenty of twists and turns to keep readers off-balance, THE WEEKEND AWAY is the perfect weekend read. This is a character-driven story and while none of them are particularly likeable, they are all compelling in their own right. I had a soft spot for Konstantin and wanted to know more about him. With plenty of action that takes the reader down many dangerous paths, THE WEEKEND AWAY is anything but boring and I look forward to reading more from Sarah Alderson. AUTHOR BIO Sarah is a British born, LA based screenwriter and author. ABOUT THIS BOOK Hubert Bird is not alone in being alone. He just needs to realise it. In weekly phone calls to his daughter in Australia, widower Hubert Bird paints a picture of the perfect retirement, packed with fun, friendship and fulfilment. But Hubert Bird is lying. The truth is day after day drags by without him seeing a single soul. Until, that is, he receives some good news - good news that in one way turns out to be the worst news ever, news that will force him out again, into a world he has long since turned his back on. Now Hubert faces a seemingly impossible task: to make his real life resemble his fake life before the truth comes out. Along the way Hubert stumbles across a second chance at love, renews a cherished friendship and finds himself roped into an audacious community scheme that seeks to end loneliness once and for all . . . Life is certainly beginning to happen to Hubert Bird. But with the origin of his earlier isolation always lurking in the shadows will he ever get to live the life he's pretended to have for so long? MY REVIEW A beautifully emotional story about life, loss, and hope, ALL THE LONELY PEOPLE by Mike Gayle is the first book that I have ever read from this author and it certainly won't be my last. Hubert Bird and his trio of quirky friends fill their days with pub lunches, walks, and gossiping about the lives of their children. Together they fill the long, empty days and keep each other going. Except they don't exist. Hubert has created this fantasy land for the benefit of his beloved daughter, Rose, who lives in Australia while he sits alone from day to day, only seeing other people when he ventures to the shop or the vet with his pet. The days tick slowly by as Hubert waits for Rose to phone for her weekly catch-up. But when something unexpected happens, Hubert finds himself in a bit of a predicament - now, he will have to try to make fiction, fact! And as Hubert steps into the real world, he may just discover that he is not alone if he chooses to open himself up again ... This is a character-driven story that will make your heart burst with emotion. Hubert is a loveable old man and as we learn about his life, the racism and bigotry that he faced and fought through, the heartbreaking moments that have changed him irrevocably, you cannot help but want to hug him and hope that he will find happiness once again. Moving from past to present allows us to experience Hubert in all facets of his life from the youthful, hopeful immigrant, to the homesick man who faces disgusting prejudice at many turns, to the husband and father who loves deeply. Everything in this story works perfectly and when I finished reading ALL THE LONELY PEOPLE I had to take a minute to digest it all and let it settle. It is an engrossing story that is so important for the world we live in and I cannot wait to read more from Mike Gayle. A stunning story that should become a huge success the world over. AUTHOR BIO Mike Gayle was born and raised in Birmingham. After graduating from Salford University with a degree in Sociology, he moved to London to pursue a career in journalism and worked as a Features Editor and agony uncle. He has written for a variety of publications including The Sunday Times, the Guardian and Cosmopolitan. I'm lucky enough to have an excerpt for you all to enjoy too - happy reading!! ABOUT THIS BOOK When she is targeted by a vicious mobster A past love is her only hope When a Russian gangster targets Coral Staufer, she is desperate for help. Coral stumbles across an undercover agent none other than the man she loved and lost, Trevor Stone. Trevor will risk anything to stop her from becoming a mob casualty...even risk his career to protect Coral. But when their past love reignites, their entire mission--and very lives--are at stake. MY REVIEW Danger, sexual tension, and more, lies between the pages of INCOGNITO EX by Geri Krotow, and it was the perfect read to curl up with the other night when the weather was horrid. Coral Staufer is determined for her business to rise from the ashes like a phoenix and become one of the best event spaces in the country, and she will work all the hours it takes to make it happen. But what Coral doesn't know is that a powerful criminal leader has hidden something on her property and will kill anyone who gets in their way. Soon, Coral is in danger and the only person who can help her is her ex-husband, Trevor, who is an undercover agent. Trevor never stopped loving Coral even though he let her go all those years ago but he will do whatever it takes to protect her. Can they escape the danger they are in before it is too late? And can a different type of love flourish second time around? Action-packed and with plenty of suspense to sink your teeth into, there is never a dull moment in INCOGNITO EX. I loved Coral who is feisty, strong, and willing to walk away for her own happiness, and she is a character that grows from the beginning to the end in this story. Trevor is strong and stubborn but recognises his flaws and I enjoyed watching him open up to Coral and really let her into his world. And the chemistry between these two is off-the-charts! INCOGNITO EX by Geri Krotow is an exciting story and is sure to please romantic suspense fans the world over. I look forward to more from this author. EXTRACT *** Trevor Stone never took his eye off the ball while undercover. Never. But as he fought to keep these thugs from harming Coral while processing the fact that he still had to get her out of here, he was distracted. The last several days, working alongside ROC gang members, he’d felt her nearby, as if the invisible thread that connected them had come alive again. He’d known she lived here, knew this was the farm she’d inherited. He knew what one rogue ROC member had done to the barn last January and hadn’t been able to fight his protective instincts toward his ex, years after they split. He’d volunteered for the mission, stupidly thinking that he’d be able to ensure her safety while not coming into direct contact with her. What he could never have predicted was how he’d react when face-to-face with Coral again. His hands clenched painfully tight, and all he wanted was to throw Coral over his shoulder and run for the Appalachian Mountains that surrounded Silver Valley. Take her far from this night, to a place where ROC couldn’t touch her. And yes, away from seeing him again, especially like this. The raw fact that she was about to be assassinated by one of the two lower-level ROC crooks was all that kept him focused. The complication that she’d just blown his cover, carefully cultivated over the past two years, was a sideshow. One he’d have to address, but later, after he got her out of here alive. When he was far from her, and knew she was safe. “What did she call you? Who is Trevor?” Disbelief, suspicion, anger snaked across the ground as the two other men cried out, and he figured he had about two seconds to act. “Stupid girl took a hit to her head.” He spoke as Grisha, the undercover identity he’d adopted to help the Trail Hikers, the secret government agency that he worked for, and his sole focus was to break up the ROC’s hold on the East Coast. “I’m not a girl, and my head isn’t that messed up. It is you, isn’t it?” At least she’d lowered her voice. It wouldn’t be a surprise to her to know he was still doing undercover work. How could she forget? It had been the death knell of their marriage. Coral’s initial appearance of frailty after the conk on her head had morphed into righteous anger. He didn’t blame her, but he couldn’t keep looking at her. Three long years without one glance at her, without her eyes on him, without the sound of her voice, threatened to destroy any focus he had left. He gave himself a quick mental shake. If she didn’t get them killed with her words, he was going to blow it with his inability to block out the distraction that was Coral. “We have to get out of here.” He addressed the other two men, both young and not the brightest, working for Ivanov, the ROC head honcho. “The cops are com-ing. You two take off. I’ll meet up later. I’ll take care of her, trust me.” He nodded at the road, and the two men craned their necks to verify his claim. The sirens screamed in the night, and he saw the flashing lights move down the highway in the distance. He took the opportunity to lift Coral from her bent position and pulled her up against him, his arm raised as if he was going to strike her. “Don’t talk. Follow my lead. And don’t say my name again.” He murmured into her ear, his lips against her skin out of necessity. He couldn’t risk the others hearing him. “Now yell when I move my arm, like I’ve hit you.” Coral’s strangled gasp nearly threw him out of his reality as an undercover agent posing as a working ROC stiff. Her voice tried to drag his mind back to hazy, hot California days when they’d spent all day in bed, getting up only to eat. It wasn’t fair that a single sound from her still did this to him. That the sur-real connection they shared hadn’t perished with their marriage. “Kill her now, Grish.” Adam was pissed, in pain from the gunshot wound, and wanted Trevor to prove he wasn’t Trevor, that Coral really was suffering from a severe head trauma. ROC agents weren’t high on trust, and Trevor, as Grisha, was new to their local group. “It’d be stupid to do it here. She’s easier to move while she can still walk. Let me take care of her, then I’ll come back for you both. Stay low, don’t use your flashlights. The police will stop at the farmhouse first. We’ve got time.” He wrapped his arm around Coral’s waist—she was thinner, but still steely strong—and half dragged, half ran with her to where he’d seen her car earlier in the day, when he’d made his own excursion out here. Self-recrimination threatened to stop him in his tracks as he knew he should have made doubly sure she wouldn’t be on the property when ROC came looking for Markova’s treasure. But he’d run out of time to verify his source who’d told him she’d be out tonight. Even with her being here, he’d never have expected she’d catch them—usually his ROC associates were somewhat competent. Unlike these two. Thank God for inept thugs. When they were what he estimated was halfway to her car, he pulled out his pistol and held her tight with his other arm. “Hang on. I’m going to shoot at the ground, to let them think it’s you.” He quickly fired two shots at the dirt, making sure the bullets had nothing to bounce off, making it sound like he’d just eliminated a witness. The sirens were close, and he saw the patrols turn into the long drive leading to the barn area. “What are you doing here, Trevor?” Her voice shook, but he couldn’t tell if it was shock or anger. Probably both. “I’ll explain later. Right now we can’t be seen by anyone.” “But that’s the police—I called them.” “I can’t be spotted, and for now you’re with me.” He had no way of knowing which officers were re-porting, and he couldn’t risk being taken into custody. Only two SVPD officers were cut in on his deep undercover work. Now the woman on his arm was one more added to the list of people in the know. The woman he’d never forgotten, whom he’d still go through hell and damnation for. His ex-wife, Coral. *** AUTHOR BIO Geri Krotow is a Naval Academy graduate and Navy veteran. ABOUT THIS BOOK Is it time to bake a chance on love? Aubrey Choi has been content running her highly successful bakery Comfort Zone, with dating the least of her priorities. Then a one-night-stand with gorgeous Korean hunk Landon Kim makes her want things she didn't think she had time for. Too bad it turns out he's a celebrity food critic whose scathing review of Comfort Zone goes viral and nearly destroys Aubrey's business - and her fond memory of their night together. Landon tries to clean up the mess he made by offering Aubrey a spot on the new celebrity cooking show he's producing. To save her bakery and her reputation, she agrees - whilst vowing to protect her heart. Will their pairing be a recipe for disaster? Or will the baker and critic finally admit that they have all the necessary ingredients for love? MY REVIEW A cute and enjoyable romance, A SWEET MESS by Jayci Lee is the perfect story to relax and unwind with. Aubrey's passion is baking and her successful bakery, Comfort Zone. Baking is so much more than a bunch of ingredients and a decent cake to her - she truly lives for her creations and her business so it's no wonder that she doesn't have much time for relationships. But there's nothing wrong with one steamy night with a handsome stranger, Landon! But when a scathing review puts everything she cares for in jeopardy, Aubrey will do whatever it takes to fix it. Even if that means facing the man who has caused all of her heartache, who just happens to be Landon, the man that she cannot forget. Sure to make you smile and a sweet romance that will warm your heart, A SWEET MESS by Jayci Lee was just what I needed after a long, hard day. The characters are interesting and relatable, the setting works well, and the baking will have you breaking out the kitchen utensils and whipping up your own cakes to eat while you read. With plenty of misunderstandings, setbacks, and sizzling tension between Aubrey and Landon, this romance works really well and is sure to please romance fans everywhere. I look forward to reading more from Jayci Lee. AUTHOR BIO JAYCI LEE writes poignant, sexy, and laugh-out-loud romance every free second she can scavenge and is semi-retired from her fifteen-year career as a defense litigator. ABOUT THIS BOOK Ailsa Tilson moves with her husband and children to Trinity Fields in search of the new. New project - a house to renovate. New people - no links to the past. New friends - especially her next-door neighbour, the lonely Verity, who needs her help. Verity has lived in Trinity Fields all her life. She's always resisted change. Her home and belongings are a shield, a defence to keep the outside world at bay. But something about the Tilsons piques her interest. Just as her ivy creeps through the shared garden fence, so Verity will work her way into the Tilson family. And once they realise how formidable she can be, it might well be too late. MY REVIEW Dark and disturbing, FINDERS, KEEPERS by Sabine Durrant is a slow-burning psychological thriller that will make you feel edgy, uncomfortable, and utterly enthralled. Verity has lived in Trinity Fields her entire life and when her new neighbours, the sleek and sophisticated Tilson family, move in, she doesn't expect to have many dealings with them. Verity likes to keep her life as it has always been. But unexpectedly, she finds herself entering a friendship of sorts with Ailsa Tilson and quickly enjoys her company and that of her kids, especially Ailsa's son, Max. Verity is not so fond of Tom, Ailsa's husband, who throws his weight around and expects everyone, including Verity, to do as he asks. Verity believes there is something off with their marriage and when something awful happens, secrets find a way of coming to the surface. But everyone has secrets, don't they? If you are looking for an action-packed thriller then this is not the book for you. FINDERS, KEEPERS is like a flower unfurling, where in each chapter another piece of the puzzle becomes clearer, until the end when we see it all laid out in horrifying clarity. This is very much a character-driven story with Verity as the narrator and this worked perfectly as I was never fully sure just how much I knew Verity throughout the book which created tension and a need to keep reading. FINDERS, KEEPERS by Sabine Durrant is a superb story and is sure to have you looking at your neighbours in an entirely new light. A must-read!! AUTHOR BIO Sabine Durrant is the author of three psychological thrillers, Under Your Skin, Remember Me This Way and Lie With Me, a Richard & Judy Bookclub selection and Sunday Times paperback bestseller. ABOUT THIS BOOK When Ali Jones faked a pregnancy to gain more Instagram followers, it should have made her a pariah on the insta-scene but it turns out that her followers love a bit of drama and now she's more popular than ever. So when Amy Donoghue, social media manager extraordinaire steps in to rehabilitate her image, Ali realises she may have to wade once more into the grubby insta-hole. With her ex, Sam, still ignoring her and her mother Mini having a mild grief-induced psychotic break (her scheme for scattering Miles' ashes seems not only bonkers but borderline illegal), Ali's got little else to cling on to but #sponcon and #ootds. Meanwhile Shelly is trying to settle into her new life as a mum-of-two while being held hostage by her mysterious insta-stalker whose sole objective is to keep Shelly on Instagram. But with her fellow Mummy Influencer friends @HolisticHazel immersed in creating WYND festival (her answer to the Goop Summit) and @PollysFewBits being as non-descript as ever, Shelly must get to the bottom of it herself. When Ali starts attending Catfishers Anonymous as a part of Amy's plan for Image Rehab, she discovers some information that may just help Shelly ... MY REVIEW The perfect story for the times we live in, UNFILTERED by Sophie White looks at the lure of Instagram and all the power and money it can provide, but just how much of yourself do you have to sacrifice in the process? Ali Jones is still reeling from the fallout of her fake pregnancy when she loses her beloved father, and on top of that, she has discovered that she is actually pregnant with Sam's baby but Sam certainly doesn't want anything to do with her now. Ali doesn't know what she is going to do but she knows that she will love this baby and that this is her chance to get her life in order. But where to start? With the help of a social media expert, Ali soon finds herself rebuilding her social media image and wading into the Influencer world again but this time she is determined to be in control. But she wonders about how good a mum she will be when her life is such a mess? And will Sam ever talk to her again? Shelly is heavily pregnant with her second child, separated, and beginning to suspect that her husband has already moved on to greener pastures. And to top it all off, she has a stalker. As Shelly makes some decisions on what she wants for herself and her children, she questions how much exposure she wants to have, especially when the stalking becomes more frightening. Who can she really trust? Do any of her so-called influencer friends care enough to be there for her? And just how far will this obsessed fan go to get what they want? And when Ali discovers something that might help Shelly who has always been kind to her, secrets may just start coming to the surface. Compelling, witty, and engaging from beginning to end, UNFILTERED by Sophie White lets readers continue with Ali and Shelly's story and allows us a further glimpse behind the curtain of being an Instagram Influencer. I still cared a lot for Ali and Shelly throughout this book and wanted them to find happiness inside themselves and the strength to do what they needed to do to make that happen. The issue of trolling and the unbelievable damage it can do is deftly described in this story and in a week when I have watched Irish influencers crying online with the amount of abuse and hate they are receiving, UNFILTERED is a timely read. With plenty of crazy deeds, hilarious mishaps, and entertaining characters, UNFILTERED by Sophie White balances humour with scrutiny perfectly in this story, and I look forward to more from this author.
