ABOUT THIS BOOK Sometimes the best holidays are the ones you least expect... After a long and turbulent year, Sarah is dreaming of the five-star getaway her sister has booked them on. White sands, cocktails, massages, the Caribbean is calling to them. But the sisters turn up to tatty beaches, basic wooden shacks, a compost toilet and outdoor cold water showers. It turns out that at the last minute Amy decided a conservation project would be much more fun than a luxury resort. So now Sarah's battling mosquitos, trying to stomach fish soup and praying for a swift escape. Life on a desert island though isn't all doom and gloom. They're at one with nature, learning about each other and making new friends. And Sarah is distracted by the dishy, yet incredibly moody, island leader she's sure is hiding a secret. MY REVIEW A delightful story about family, friendship, and new beginnings, THE SUMMER ISLAND SWAP by Samantha Tonge is a great way to pass an afternoon, relaxing in the garden. Sarah is used to looking after her younger sister, Amy, as it is the role she has always played, ever since their mother died. And now Amy wants to thank Sarah and show her that she is no longer a little girl by organising a once-in-a-lifetime luxury trip for them both to somewhere far-flung and exotic. Sarah cannot wait!!! Except, Amy decides to throw a curveball and has booked them on a working holiday on an island where it is more wooden shacks than luxurious bedsheets and where emptying the compost toilet is supposed to help you become one with your surroundings. Sarah is horrified but as she begins to meet new people, learn new skills, and start to let go of the past, it could just be the best holiday she never wished for ... With witty and fresh characters and a unique setting that grabbed my attention, THE SUMMER ISLAND SWAP by Samantha Tonge is enjoyable from beginning to end. Each character is distinctly different which worked well for me and while parts are predictable, I found that comforting and endearing. A good story, THE SUMMER ISLAND SWAP is sure to please fictions fans everywhere. AUTHOR BIO Samantha Tonge lives in Manchester UK with her husband and children. ABOUT THIS BOOK High school wasn’t the right time or place for their relationship to grow, but now, fifteen years later, a chance encounter changes both of their lives forever. No one in the charming river town of New Hope, Pennsylvania, needs to know that Vince Amato plans on flipping The Hideaway Inn to the highest bidder and returning to his luxury lifestyle in New York City. He needs to make his last remaining investment turn a profit…even if that means temporarily relocating to the quirky small town where he endured growing up. He’s spent years reinventing himself and won’t let his past dictate his future. But on his way to New Hope, Vince gets stuck in the middle of nowhere and his past might be the only thing that can get him to his future. Specifically Tack O’Leary, the gorgeous, easygoing farm boy who broke his heart and who picks Vince up in his dilapidated truck. Tack comes to the rescue not only with a ride but also by signing on to be the chef at The Hideaway for the summer. As Vince and Tack open their hearts to each other again, Vince learns that being true to himself doesn’t mean shutting down a second chance with Tack—it means starting over and letting love in. MY REVIEW A lovely story about second chances and personal growth, THE HIDEAWAY INN by Philip William Stover is the first book in this exciting new series and I'm looking forward to the next book already. Vince Amato left behind his childhood home and his broken heart a long time ago. He has transformed himself into a tough alpha who controls every part of his life down to the last detail. When he finds himself in money difficulties and needs to quickly flip an old inn back where he grew up, Vince has no doubt that he can get in and get out without too much hassle. But that was before he ran into the one guy who could always take his breath away, Tack O'Leary. With Tack being the best chef in the area, Vince soon finds himself working with the man who tossed him carelessly to the side during high school when Vince needed him the most, and Vince is determined to show Tack just how much he doesn't want or need him in his life. Except, Tack has changed and grown in so many different ways in the years since Vince has been away, and he will do anything to show Vince just how much he has always cared about him. Emotional, steamy, and with plenty of real-life issues nestled among the pages, THE HIDEAWAY INN by Philip William Stover is a story about loving someone for who they are and what they care about, and not by labels or other people's opinions. I loved the town of New Hope and look forward to getting to know more members of the community as the series continue. The characters are flawed, relatable, and have the power to get under your skin and make you care about them deeply. THE HIDEAWAY INN is a wonderful romance about letting go of the past, embracing the future, and letting love be the guiding force in life. I will definitely be reading book two! AUTHOR BIO Philip William Stover splits his time between Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and New York City. He has an MFA in writing and is a clinical professor at New York University, where he is the former chair of the writing curriculum. As a freelance journalist, his essays and reviews have appeared in Newsday, The Forward, The Tony Awards, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Houston Chronicle, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and other national publications.
