Book length - 384 pages Publisher - HQ Digital www.harpercollins.co.uk Amazon UK - The New Beginnings Coffee Club: Sunshine and second chances in the only feel-good read you need this summer Amazon US - www.amazon.com BLURB Everyone deserves a second chance…don’t they? Jenny Masters finds herself living the modern dream. Wife to a millionaire, living in a mansion and mother to Kardashian-obsessed ten-year-old April, there isn’t anything missing. Until, her whole world comes crashing down, forcing Jenny and April to leave behind their glittering life and start over with nothing. With village gossip following her wherever she goes, she finds refuge and a job in the new coffee shop in town. As the days pass Jenny fears she doesn’t have what it takes to pick herself back up and give April the life she always wanted to. But with the help of enigmatic new boss Noah, and housemate Elle, Jenny realises it’s never too late to become the woman life really intended you to be! MY REVIEW THE NEW BEGINNINGS COFFEE CLUB by Samantha Tonge is one of the freshest, captivating, and inspiring contemporary fiction novels that I have read in a very long time. I don't know how I haven't read anything from this author before, but that is something I am definitely going to rectify as I embark on another bookish shopping spree - don't tell anyone!! The characters are so full of depth and emotion that you cannot help but get really attached to them as their lives unfold before us on the page. The pace is perfect with just enough humour, heartbreak, and self-discovery to carry you along its excellent journey from beginning to end. When Jenny's picture perfect world implodes, she is really forced to look at herself, who she had become, and the kind of role model she wanted to be for her very impressionable ten-year-old daughter. Finding unexpected kindness and compassion from Noah and Elle, who run the local coffee shop, she soon finds friendship, confidence, and a place to clear her head. As the story continues, we watch as Jenny, Noah, Elle, April, and others are forced to look at who they are and what they want from life, with many surprises along the way that will really burrow into your heart and take root there. THE NEW BEGINNINGS COFFEE CLUB by Samantha Tonge is such a beautiful story of friendship, love, honesty, and embracing the person you are meant to be in this world. This novel is absolutely breathtaking and one that all fiction fans should read. Book length - 512 pages Publisher - www.bonnierzaffre.co.uk Book Depository - www.bookdepository.com Amazon UK - Lies: The stunning new psychological thriller you won't be able to put down! Amazon US - www.amazon.com BLURB WHAT IF YOUR WHOLE LIFE WAS BASED ON LIES? When Joe Lynch stumbles across his wife driving into a hotel car park while she's supposed to be at work, he's intrigued enough to follow her in. And when he witnesses her in an angry altercation with family friend Ben, he knows he ought to intervene. But just as the confrontation between the two men turns violent, and Ben is knocked unconscious, Joe's young son has an asthma attack - and Joe must flee in order to help him. When he returns, desperate to make sure Ben is OK, Joe is horrified to find that Ben has disappeared. And that's when Joe receives the first message . . . MY REVIEW Joe Lynch is happy with his lot in life. He has a wife and son that he loves beyond measure and everything seems to be damn near perfect. So when he happens to see his wife disappearing into a hotel car park, Joe thinks nothing of driving down behind her to see what she is doing. And it is with this simple choice, that Joe's life will be altered forever in ways you could never imagine. From the very beginning, I really enjoyed the pace and punchiness of this story and the plot line kept me gripped throughout. With plenty of twists and turns, some of which I must admit I did guess, this sinister tale definitely made me shiver at certain points. I do have to say that there were many times that Joe really got on my nerves and I wanted to scream at him to stop being so naive and open his eyes!! But that is all part and parcel of this story - you will connect with the characters and feel real emotion towards them, even if it is annoyance. LIES by TM Logan is a compelling psychological thriller that reveals how terrifyingly easy the fabric of one's life can disintegrate into darkness and despair - how one simple decision can blow your world apart. It is an engaging read and I highly recommend it. BOOK RATING - 📖📖📖📖 4**** Author Bio: TM Logan was born in Berkshire to an English father and a German mother. He studied at Queen Mary and Cardiff universities before becoming a national newspaper journalist. He currently works in communications and lives in Nottinghamshire with his wife and two children. LIES is his first novel - published on January 17th 2017 (ebook) and May 4th 2017 (paperback). Book length - 368 pages Publisher - atlantic-books.co.uk/corvus/ Book Depository - www.bookdepository.com Amazon UK - The Last Night Amazon US - www.amazon.com BLURB In a quiet coastal village, Irina spends her days restoring furniture, passing the time in peace and hiding away from the world. A family secret, long held and never discussed, casts a dark shadow and Irina chooses to withdraw into her work. When an antique bureau is sent to her workshop, the owner anonymous, Irina senses a history to the object that makes her uneasy. As Irina begins to investigate the origins of the piece, she unearths the secrets it holds within. Decades earlier, another young woman kept secrets. Her name was Abigail. over the course of one summer, she fell in love, and dreamed of the future. But Abigail could not know that a catastrophe loomed, and this event would change the course of many lives for ever... MY REVIEW Irina Woods is scarred in every way from a harrowing tragedy that changed her family forever, so now she spends her life closed off in her workshop restoring antique furniture, avoiding the world wherever possible. But when she receives an anonymous commission to restore a beautiful antique bureau, Irina's life becomes a lot more complicated. For the bureau is hiding secrets from another woman's life, Abigail, a woman from the past, who wants her story to be heard. And as Irina begins to piece together this mysterious puzzle, it might just force her to face her own demons head on. THE LAST NIGHT by Cesca Major is an absolutely stunning novel that gave me goosebumps, with characters that you desperately want to protect as their harrowing stories are brought to life. The story switches between Irina's life in the present, and Abigail's life in the 1950s which really worked for me as the pace was energetic and exciting enough to keep me hooked. Throughout the novel, the feeling of tragedy, love, and loss permeates the narrative, and you cannot help but feel an uncomfortable tension that something awful is just around the corner for both of these strong-willed heroines, even as you wish that you will be proved wrong. But alongside all of these tense emotions, there is also the spirit of real friendship, family, and the budding hope of love, and the lyrical prose of Cesca Major paints a beautiful setting that will take your breath away at times. THE LAST NIGHT by Cesca Major is everything I look for in a good novel and I devoured it in one sitting. Book length - 416 pages Publisher - www.penguinrandomhouse.co.uk/publishers/ebury/ Book Depository - www.bookdepository.com Amazon UK - The One Amazon US - www.amazon.com BLURB How far would you go to find THE ONE? One simple mouth swab is all it takes. A quick DNA test to find your perfect partner – the one you’re genetically made for. A decade after scientists discover everyone has a gene they share with just one other person, millions have taken the test, desperate to find true love. Now, five more people meet their Match. But even soul mates have secrets. And some are more shocking – and deadlier – than others... A psychological thriller with a difference, this is a truly unique novel which is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. (Note: Previously published as A Thousand Small Explosions) MY REVIEW This story is unlike any that I have ever read and I was completely transfixed from start to finish. In a world where love can now be determined by science, couples across the world come together with their perfect match, but what happens to those who never find their match or those who are already in love with someone else? As we fall into the love lives of five characters who are matched successfully through their DNA, we are brought on a rollercoaster ride of love, lust, tragedy, disaster, and complete terror. From Mandy who is desperate to start a family with her perfectly chosen partner to Nick whose match is a complete shock to the system, the reader becomes captivated by all of these characters stories, even the one whose secret life is so much more terrifyingly darker than the rest. But should love really be decided by science? And what happens if someone decides to test the theory? THE ONE by John Marrs is an exceptional read that really got under my skin and I read this book in one night as I had to know how life ended up for the characters. While all of the stories were compelling, Nick's tale really stood out for me as he struggled with his results and the fallout from his decision to do the test. While love is obviously the aim of the game, there is a darker, tense edge to some of the character's lives that really make their stories stay with you long after you close the book. THE ONE by John Marrs is a top notch and unique plot and it will definitely be in my top ten books for the year - these slots seem to be filling up fast! Publisher - us.macmillan.com Available now on: Book Depository - www.bookdepository.com Amazon UK - The Best of Adam Sharp Amazon US - www.amazon.com BLURB From the #1 bestselling author of The Rosie Project and The Rosie Effect, an unforgettable new novel about lost love and second chances On the cusp of turning fifty, Adam Sharp likes his life. He’s happy with his partner Claire, he excels in music trivia at quiz night at the local pub, he looks after his mother, and he does the occasional consulting job in IT. But he can never quite shake off his nostalgia for what might have been: his blazing affair more than twenty years ago with an intelligent and strong-willed actress named Angelina Brown who taught him for the first time what it means to find—and then lose—love. How different might his life have been if he hadn’t let her walk away? And then, out of nowhere, from the other side of the world, Angelina gets in touch. What does she want? Does Adam dare to live dangerously? MY REVIEW Adam Sharp is just an ordinary man turning fifty with a relatively ordinary life when a blast from the past makes him question everything. Angelina Brown will always be the one that got away for Adam all those years ago, so when he receives an email from her almost twenty years later, he is shocked and very interested in how her life has turned out for her. With an unexpected invitation to visit Angelina and her family, Adam starts down a dangerous path as the memories from their past flare back to life. And all of this action is set alongside a musical backdrop that will make music lovers everywhere smile. THE BEST OF ADAM SHARP by Graeme Simsion is a hard one for me to review as I did enjoy the pace, the plot, and the overall novel, but yet there was something just missing for me. I liked the characters and their story but I didn't really connect with them on any deep or emotional level. At times when I felt I should be in tears, it just didn't evoke that level of feeling from me, and I want to feel that when I read a book. I want to care about what is happening. Overall I found it an entertaining read but it just missed the mark for me. BOOK RATING - 📖📖📖 3 Author Bio: Graeme Simsion is a former IT consultant and the author of two nonfiction books on database design who decided, at the age of fifty, to turn his hand to fiction. His first novel, The Rosie Project, was published in 2013 and translation rights have been sold in forty languages. The sequel, The Rosie Effect, is also an international bestseller. Graeme's third novel is The Best of Adam Sharp, a story of a love affair re-kindled - and its consequences. Graeme lives in Australia with his wife, Anne Buist, also a published writer ( Medea's Curse, Dangerous to Know).
