Book length - 304 pages Book Depository - www.bookdepository.com Amazon UK - The Mercury Travel Club Amazon US - www.amazon.com BLURB ‘Hi, I’m Angela. My husband ran off with the caterer we hired for our daughter’s graduation party – pleased to meet you.’ Meet Angie Shepherd who, after 24 years and 11 months of marriage, finds herself divorced and driven by friends and family to move on. From hangover to makeover, Angie steps firmly away from the sensible knitwear, and launches into every adventure on offer – from baking classes and book groups, to speed dating, and even ‘The Granny-Okes’, a 1980s tribute act and YouTube sensation. But Angie needs more than a bar of galaxy and a night in with Murder She Wrote... what she dreams of is entrepreneurial success. Channelling her inner Richard Branson, the light bulb moment happens: it’s time to take the plunge and invest her divorce settlement into The Mercury Travel Club, an exciting new business venture. But as the Travel Club gets going, things never go according to plan, and in this digital age a little chaos brings the fame she’s been looking for. Set in present-day Manchester, this classic mid-life journey features the 1980s soundtrack from Angie’s youth, and sees her travel the world whilst coping with life after the Ex. Angie’s journey is the catalyst her friends need to examine their own lives; as they start to find their true callings, will Angie find hers? Witty, entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny, this feel-good debut novel shows it’s never too late for a second chance. MY REVIEW THE MERCURY TRAVEL CLUB by Helen Bridgett is one of the funniest books I have ever read, with a cast of characters that you will completely fall head over heels in love with. Meet Angie Shepherd, age 53, newly-divorced with a grown-up daughter and unsure of what exactly she is supposed to do with her life now. With the usual advice dispensed to those who find themselves in her situation, she makes a determined effort 'to get out there' and find a new path, and Angie does so with gusto. From the new book club where she makes new friends, becoming an overnight internet sensation during a drunken karaoke session with her best friend Patty, to trying to learn how to bake with her daughter even though she is a health hazard in the kitchen, life is certainly not dull. But while she is doing all of these exciting things with everyone else, Angie cannot help but feel that it is more for them than for her. But when Angie has an idea that could help grow the travel agency where she works, she has no clue that this new business venture will expand her world in ways she never thought possible. From cruise ships with international criminals, a mother with no filter, speed dating, and showdowns with the ex, THE MERCURY TRAVEL CLUB by Helen Bridgett has everything you will ever need for an excellent nights reading - and trust me it will only take one night because you will not want to put this book down! Witty dialogue, clever characterisation, and a beautifully down-to-earth atmosphere throughout, this stunning debut shows us that life truly is what you make of it, and it is yours for the taking. I cannot wait to see what Helen Bridgett has for us next!! BOOK RATING - 📖📖📖📖📖 5+++++++++ Author Bio: Helen has always loved books and always loved writing. One year she decided her New Year’s resolution would be “Write a novel to give as a Christmas present”. She spent the year writing and The Mercury Travel Club was born. Helen hails from the North East but now lives in Manchester with her Husband and their Chocolate Labrador Angus. When not writing, Helen can usually be found walking or drinking wine – not usually at the same time. Book length - 368 pages Book Depository - www.bookdepository.com Amazon UK - Convenient Proposal To The Lady (Hadley's Hellions, Book 3) Amazon US - www.amazon.com BLURB 'Duty can also be pleasure, Lady Alyssa...' When politician Benedict Tawny set out to save Lady Alyssa from a nefarious plot, he never expected to find himself trapped in a compromising situation with the alluring lady! Now duty demands he propose...and claim her as his bride! Tainted by his illegitimacy, Ben knows he can't give Alyssa the life of luxury she deserves. But if he can convince her to succumb to the undeniable heat between them, their convenient marriage might just lead to the love of a lifetime! MY REVIEW Benedict Tawny knows what it is like to be shunned by society, ridiculed for being born on the wrong side of the blanket. But more importantly, he has grown up seeing the effect it had on his beloved mother, whose only wrong-doing was falling in love all those years ago. So when Ben, a now prominent up and coming politician, uncovers a disgusting plot to ruin a lady for the purposes of a bet, he is determined to warn her. But he did not expect the instant connection he feels for Lady Alyssa who is strong, intelligent and an extremely talented artist. Determined to remain single and escape the abusive clutches of her father and brother, Lady Alyssa is dismissive of Ben's initial warnings, but soon discovers the truth and begins her own plans for retribution on Lord Denbry and his ilk who seek to ruin her for sport. All she wants is a little cottage of her own where she can focus on her art. But when their situation goes beyond their control, Alyssa and Ben find themselves in a marriage of convenience. What is not convenient is the passionate feelings that they have for each other. After all, Ben understands all too well that love and passion only ever lead to heartbreak, just look at his mother, and Alyssa can never trust handing over her heart and independence to anyone. But sometimes love is the missing piece of the puzzle if you are lucky enough to find it and slot it into place. CONVENIENT PROPOSAL TO THE LADY by Julia Justiss is an engaging Regency romance that will light up your heart and make you feel warm and fuzzy. Alyssa is no wilting wallflower, but a fighter who will not surrender to her father's fists, or Denbry's bullying, or society's ridiculous ideas on women, but she is also soft, caring, and vulnerable when it comes to Ben and matters of the heart. Ben is my favourite of Hadley's Hellions (you should definitely check out the other books in this magnificent series), as he is a gentleman in the true sense of the word, and yet struggles with his feelings, and the possibility of being vulnerable to someone else.. Perfectly paced with evocative descriptions throughout, CONVENIENT TO THE LADY by Julia Justiss has everything you need in a historical romance and I am completely in love with this series. BOOK RATING - 📖📖📖📖📖 5+++++++++++ Author Bio: Julia Justiss grew up breathing the scent of sea air near the colonial town of Annapolis, Maryland, a fact responsible for two of her life-long passions: sailors and history! By age twelve she was a junior tour guide for Historic Annapolis, conducting visitors on walking tours through the city that was a hotbed of revolutionary fervor. (Annapolis hosted its own tea party, dispensing with the cargo aboard the "Peggy Stewart," and was briefly capital of the United States.) She also took tourists through Annapolis's other big attraction, the United States Naval Academy. After so many years of observing future naval officers at P-rade and chapel, it seemed almost inevitable that she eventually married one. But long before embarking on romantic adventures of her own, she read about them, transporting herself to such favorite venues as ancient Egypt, World War II submarine patrols, the Old South and, of course, Regency England. Soon she was keeping notebooks for jotting down story ideas. From plotting adventures for her first favorite heroine Nancy Drew she went on to write poetry in high school and college, then worked as a business journalist doing speeches, sales promotion material and newsletter articles. After her marriage to a naval lieutenant took her overseas, she wrote the newsletter for the American Embassy in Tunis, Tunisia and traveled extensively throughout Europe. Before leaving Tunis, she fulfilled her first goal: completing a Regency novel. Children intervened, and not until her husband left the Navy to return to his Texas homeland did she sit down to pen a second novel. The reply to her fan mail letter to a Regency author led her to Romance Writers of America. From the very first meeting, she knew she'd found a home among fellow writers--doubtless the largest group of people outside a mental institution who talk back to the voices in their heads. Her second goal was achieved the day before her birthday in May, 1998 when Margaret Marbury of Harlequin Historicals offered to buy that second book, the Golden-Heart-Award winning novel that became THE WEDDING GAMBLE. Since then, she has gone on to write fourteen novels, three novellas and an on-line serial, along the way winning or finalling for historical awards from The Golden Quill, the National Reader’s Choice, Romantic Times, and All About Romance’s Favorite Book of the Year. Julia now inhabits an English Georgian-style house she and her husband built in the East Texas countryside where, if she closes her eyes and ignores the summer thermometer, she can almost imagine she inhabits the landscape of "Pride and Prejudice." In between travelling to visit her three children (a naval officer son stationed in Washington, DC, a textiles and design major daughter who cheers for University of Texas at Austin, and a mechanical engineering major son also at UT Austin) keeping up with her science teacher husband and juggling a part-time day job as a high school French teacher, she pursues her first and dearest love--crafting stories. To relax, she enjoys watching movies, reading (historical fiction, mystery, suspense) and puttering about in the garden trying to kill off more weeds than flowers.
