ABOUT THIS BOOK The only thing worse than finding out that your husband is dead, is discovering the secrets he left behind. Annabel's seemingly perfect ex-patriate life in Geneva is shattered when her banker husband Matthew's plane crashes in the Alps. When Annabel finds clues that his death may not be all it seems, she puts herself in the crosshairs of powerful enemies and questions whether she really knew her husband at all. Meanwhile, journalist Marina is investigating Swiss United, the bank where Matthew worked. But when she uncovers evidence of a shocking global financial scandal that implicates someone close to home, she is forced to make an impossible choice. MY REVIEW Having just finished reading THE BANKER'S WIFE by Cristina Alger I completely understand why the television rights for this book have already been snatched up as this is riveting drama at its finest. Annabel adores her husband Matthew but is beginning to feel lonely in their affluent life in Geneva which was only ever supposed to be short-term. And the pressure of Matthew's high profile banking job seems to be taking its toll on her husband in many ways. But when Matthew dies in a plane crash in the Alps it throws Annabel's life into a tailspin. Why was he on that plane? And was it an accident like everyone around her seems insistent upon? While Annabel is trying to uncover the truth, Marina, a journalist is getting ready to leave the job she loves to become the wife of Grant Ellis, the perfect man. But when her boss and mentor is murdered, Marina knows that it is to do with a story that he was covering and she is determined to finish it for him. But as the truth starts to bubble to the surface Marina's life and those that she trusts will also be in danger. And sometimes the truth is very unexpected. Absolutely unputdownable, THE BANKER'S WIFE by Cristina Alger is everything you want in a clever thriller with enough greed, lies, and subterfuge to keep you hooked from beginning to end. The characters are fascinating and I found myself warming to Marina more than Annabel, mainly because of her strong and independent will to do the right thing. THE BANKER'S WIFE by Cristina Alger may be one of the first books that I have read this year but I guarantee you it will definitely be in my top list for 2019 - a must-read for suspense and thriller fans alike.
