ABOUT THIS BOOK THEY SOUGHT THE TRUTH A team of explorers seek ancient treasures, hidden in a secret cave. At first it seems they will return empty handed. Then their luck turns. THEY FOUND A NIGHTMARE But the team's elation is short-lived as they become trapped there in the dark, with little possibility of escape. Then events take an even more terrifying turn. For not all secrets are meant to be found . . . MY REVIEW THE ANOMALY by Michael Rutger is an action-packed, character-driven, terrifying adventure that I really hope I will get to see on the silver screen in the not too distant future. I started this story on Saturday evening and I could not put it down! A team of explorers who are hoping to see their show move from Youtube to cable tv is investigating the existence of a secret cave in the Grand Canyon. There is Ken, the older, wiser, sarcastic boss of the operation, Molly, the mother-hen who handles all of the finer details, Pierre the young, fit and all round nice guy cameraman, and Nolan the face and intellectual of the show. Along for the ride this time is Feather, who is connected with the patron who is financing this expedition, and Gemma, a journalist who is doing a piece on Nolan. When it looks like it all may be a dead end, which has happened plenty of times before, it is pure luck when they spot a ledge in the rock face and when they climb into the cavern, it is beyond anything they have ever seen before. But when one false move sets off a chain of events, it isn't long before the group is trapped and in dangerous peril and they must uncover the truth if they are ever to find a way out of this warren of confusion. For something beyond their comprehension is at play and they are not alone in the dark ... As I said before I couldn't put this book down once I had started it even to the point that when the electricity went out, I sat reading it with a flashlight which made the dark and claustrophobic elements of this story even more intense! The characters are all quirky and different and I really liked Ken and Nolan and their friendly camaraderie. The setting, historical, and ancient elements of the story are superb and I wanted to know more at every turn. THE ANOMALY by Michael Rutger is an excellent novel that needs to be a movie and I cannot wait to read more from this author.
