In this series, we follow Rose Saintclair as she arrives on the shores of Scotland in 1847. Secretly married to Lord Cameron McRae, she has sailed from her home in the Algiers, so that their marriage can be announced at her husband's birthday ball. Even though she worries about the way he treated her on their wedding night, she believes that he is a good man. But when a storm forces her to seek shelter at the Kyle of Wrath, Rose's life will never be the same. For Lord McGunn of Wrath is her husband's enemy, and there is a darkness that seems to envelop Wrath. But looks can be deceptive, and all is not what it seems in Scotland. Bruce McGunn will do anything to save his people from the cruelty of McRae, but with little money and the strange hallucinations that he suffers from, he is running out of ideas and time. But when Rose arrives, he forms a plan to hold her hostage until he can find a way out of his debt. What he did not expect were the feelings that Rose evokes - determined, loyal, stubborn, and beautiful, Bruce cannot help wanting her. As Rose tries to make sense of what is happening in her life, she starts to realise that McRae is not who she thought he was, and Bruce, although infuriating, has stolen her heart. But with murder, a threatening madness , the Dark Lady of Wrath reappearing, and old betrayals and secrets coming to life, will Rose and Bruce lose everything just as the truth becomes known?
DANCING WITH THE DEVIL trilogy by Marie Laval is a spellbinding tale of lies, love, and strength. Set in stunning Scotland, the imagery used by the author draws a haunting and beautiful picture that comes alive for the reader. I was instantly gripped from the beginning of the story and I just had to know how it all would end. Rose, although a little naive at times, is endearing and admirable. As her journey continued and she discovered what was really happening, she showed strength and kindness and was willing to do anything to protect those she loved. Bruce is a strong character with a soft heart buried underneath his tough skin. Terrified of his illness, and wanting to leave his people safe and secure, he will do whatever it takes to protect them. Honest and noble, he is a wonderful hero throughout the books. DANCING WITH THE DEVIL trilogy by Marie Laval is a compelling historical tale full of romance, intrigue, danger, and love set in the magnificent wildness of Scotland - it really has it all and I highly recommend all three of the novels (books two and three are a continuation of the story). BOOK RATING - 📖📖📖📖📖 5+ Author Bio: Originally from Lyon in France, Marie studied History and Law at university there before moving to Lancashire in England where she worked in a variety of jobs, from PA in a busy university department to teacher of French in schools and colleges. Writing, however, was always her passion, and she spends what little free time she has dreaming and making up stories. A SPELL IN PROVENCE is her first contemporary romance. It is published by Áccent Press. Her historical romances ANGEL HEART and THE LION'S EMBRACE are re-released by Accent Press. And Books 1, 2 and 3 of the DANCING FOR THE DEVIL Trilogy, a historical romance set in Scotland, have just been released.
