ABOUT THIS BOOK One night. One date. What have you got to lose? Jack Harper isn’t a bad man, but he’s stuck in a loveless marriage with a mediocre job just trying to keep sober. The only good thing in his life is his son. When an old college friend introduces him to a new extramarital dating website, he tentatively reaches out to find a distraction from his misery. But when he goes to meet up with his steamy online date, he quickly realises it was a dire choice. Soon, Jack finds himself desperately trying to prove his innocence for crimes he did not commit, and the life he once had – unhappy as it was – is nothing but a dream. Now, he’s living his worst nightmare. . . MY REVIEW Fast-paced and deeply disturbing at times, TOO FAR by Jason Starr is a psychological thriller with plenty of twists to keep you guessing until the very end. Jack Harper hasn't ended up with the life that he always dreamed of. A recovering alcoholic he works as a real-estate agent in the city and has a loveless marriage to Maria where they treat each other like roommates who barely put up with each other. The only bright spot in his life is his son. But when his career stalls and the tension at home becomes unbearable, Jack decides to shake up his mundane existence with a little excitement as he begins to chat online to what seems to be a sexy woman who fascinates him at every turn. Deciding to meet up in person, Jack begins to question whether he is doing the right thing. But when he finally meets his mystery woman it will set off a terrifying sequence of events that will make him beg for his old life back. Straight into the action, TOO FAR by Jason Starr does not lag at any point of the story. The plot is intricate and detailed and there were moments of true surprise which is always a bonus for a reader. Jack isn't exactly a likeable character but that didn't take away from my need to uncover the truth for him. Overall a compelling and interesting read for psychological thriller fans everywhere.
