ABOUT THIS BOOK Hannah Townsend's life is just as she’s always wanted it to be. She has the perfect job at a New York magazine, a small but elegant apartment in the upper west side, and an incredibly successful beau named Miles Monahan. This year, for her thirty-fifth birthday, she’s leaving the icy city sludge for sunshine! She’s got tickets for two to Barbados, and she’s all packed and meeting Miles at the airport for a week of cocktails, sandy beaches, and the music of steel drums. But her life is turned upside down in the span of that one morning. Hannah is rocked by the news that her beloved grandmother is very sick, and Hannah needs to come home to her small Tennessee town right away to be with her family and help run her gran’s dilapidated flower shop. It also means she has to face Ethan Wright, the best friend she’d left behind so many years ago. If that isn’t enough to deal with, she discovers her boyfriend is seeing someone else. With flights grounded and rental cars in great demand due to the winter snowstorm, she’s stranded at the airport. On her birthday, instead of waking up in a stylish beachfront hotel in Miles’s arms like she thought, she finds herself packed like sardines into a car, with two passengers, on a ride-share from LaGuardia Airport to her hometown of Franklin, Tennessee. When everything seems to be going wrong, it’s the kindness of a handsome businessman from Hannah’s past named Liam McGuire that might just save her. But a new development that threatens Gran’s shop and secrets surrounding Liam could alter both their lives forever. MY REVIEW With a story that feels like a warm hug and characters that become family by the end, THE MEMORY KEEPER by Jenny Hale is the perfect read to lose yourself in. Hannah Townsend left her small-town life behind and has what she always wanted - a fast-paced, exciting career, and a long-term relationship with Miles which she is hoping will lead to a proposal soon. And with a secret luxury getaway organised for them both, everything is simply perfect. Except when Hannah surprises Miles she discovers something shocking about the man she thought she loved - he's a cheat - and when her mother rings to tell her that her beloved grandmother is gravely ill, Hannah needs no convincing to abandon her vacation and fly home to be with her family. Except there are no flights. But lucky for Hannah she finds some people willing to share a long car ride - an old childhood friend of hers who seems so different from the popular teenager she used to know, and a quirky woman who is on a journey of self-discovery. As Hannah moves away from the city and spends more time with those she loves and those whom she used to call friends, she begins to realise that her perfect life was maybe not so perfect after all, and as she tries to save her grandmother's flower shop from some faceless businessman who wants to take it out from under her, Hannah may just find the happiness she has always wanted. The descriptive setting, the warm and engaging characters, and the ups and downs along the way, all combine to make THE MEMORY KEEPER by Jenny Hale a pure delight to read. I instantly liked Hannah who is strong, determined, and considerate (when she slows down enough to take in everything around her), and I love how she loves her family. THE MEMORY KEEPER is the kind of book that has something for everyone, from family drama to romance, and I highly recommend this book to fiction fans everywhere who want to lose themselves in a great story for a few hours - it's a must-read!!!
