ABOUT THE BOOK The Crown of the Andes, one of the world's most precious and beautiful sacred objects, has been stolen right off the stage at Satterling's Auction House in New York City. Five pounds of magnificent baroque gold that ransomed the Inca Ruler Atahaulpa, and hundreds of perfect Colombian emeralds, all gone without a trace! Will this legendary treasure be destroyed for its gold and emeralds? One woman is dead and another one in hot pursuit. MY REVIEW THE MATTER OF THE CROWN by Linda Ferreri is a layered story brimming with historical detail and art references throughout. Taking the reader from the auction houses of Manhattan to the rolling Italian countryside with plenty of stunning scenery in between, we are taken on an adventure to find the Crown of the Andes, a sacred and precious object that has been stolen. But what has this got to do with Avi disappearing from her home in a quiet village? And who will be able to uncover the mystery? While I enjoyed the premise of this story it was a little confusing at the start but persevere and it will all slot into place. I know next to nothing about art and art history so I found the detail and description in this area illuminating, interesting, and it really added to the story. The characters are well-rounded and while I didn't become overly invested in any of them, I still wanted to know how the story would end for them all. Overall I found THE MATTER OF THE CROWN by Linda Ferreri to be a solid story and it would definitely suit anyone who loves the art world.
