ABOUT THIS BOOK SINCLAIR WIFE DEAD! HUSBAND CLEARED! Police have ruled out suspicious circumstances in the investigation into the death of Elizabeth Sinclair, wife of charismatic entrepreneur Harry Sinclair, found drowned in the lake of the family’s holiday park. It’s been two years since the Sinclair case closed but when reporter Steph Durham receives a tipoff that could give her the scoop of the year, she’s drawn deeper and deeper into the secretive Sinclair family. Elizabeth’s death wasn’t a tragic accident. And the truth will come at a deadly price… MY REVIEW A fantastic, twisted journey of family secrets and betrayals, THE DEAD WIFE by Sue Fortin is an excellent story from start to finish and is definitely on my list for one of the best books this year! When Steph Durham gets the opportunity to attend a press weekend at a stunning estate in the Lakes, she is delighted, even though it will be close to where her mother lives with whom she has a strained relationship. But when she gets a message from a distraught mother, begging her to look deeper into the Sinclair family, who own the estate, and the death of her daughter, Elizabeth who was married to one of the sons, Steph knows that this could be the story that could launch her journalism career to new heights. But it is the desperation of this woman and the love she obviously has for her lost daughter that makes Steph determined to find out the truth about what seems to be a tragic accident on the surface. Run by the matriarch, Pru, and her three very different sons, Dominic, Harry, and Owen, it isn't long before Steph feels that somebody is hiding something, but there is the added complication that her mother was the one who had investigated Elizabeth's death and found nothing, as well as Steph's burgeoning feelings for Harry to contend with. But as Steph finds herself in a dangerous situation will she be able to unearth the truth before it is too late and she becomes the next victim? This story hooked me from the very beginning and the characters held me captive on each page. Steph is feisty, charming, and determined, but she is also vulnerable, yearning for love from her mother and wanting things to be different between them, but as secrets begin to surface, I loved the way Steph never gave up. With plenty of tense moments and surprises along the way, THE DEAD WIFE by Sue Fortin is everything you could want in a psychological thriller and I cannot wait for more from Sue Fortin. ABOUT THIS BOOK Once a real bus Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus has a fictional tale of his own. Jay-Jay the Supersonic Bus is a brightly coloured playbus full of toys. He's always ready for adventure, and after an eventful summer the bus is ready for his journey to the carnival. The children are also excited - but what will happen on the way?' MY REVIEW Well, I can't review JAY-JAY AND THE CARNIVAL without first commenting on this beautiful, colourful cover that gives you just a little hint to the adventure that is waiting inside. Jay-Jay isn't just any ordinary bus. Jay-Jay is special and inside there are so many toys and nooks and crannies where children can play and have a fun experience. But when the bus breaks down, will it make to the carnival in time? Will the children be left disappointed? I didn't realise that this book was part of a series but I'm delighted that it is because it means that there are more of these lovely stories available for kids to enjoy. The illustrations are vibrant and inspire conversation, and the adventures that the kids enjoy on Jay-Jay the bus are simply lovely. JAY-JAY AND THE CARNIVAL by Sue Wickstead is a delightful story that will make the perfect picture book for young children and I highly recommend it. AUTHOR BIO Sue Wickstead is a teacher and an author and has currently written six children’s picture books with a bus theme. In addition, she has also written a photographic history book about the real bus behind her story writing. Her bus stories are about a playbus. Have you ever been on a Playbus? When Sue’s two children were young, they attended a playgroup on a bus, but not an ordinary bus taking you on a journey, exciting though this is, but a Playbus stuffed full of toys to capture their imagination! For over 20 years, alongside her teaching career, she worked with the charity, the Bewbush Playbus Association. ABOUT THIS BOOK Amanda King and Tess Cuffe are strangers who share the same Georgian house, but their lives couldn't be more different. Amanda seems to have it all, absolute perfection. She projects all the accoutrements of a lady who lunches. Sadly, the reality is a soulless home, an unfaithful husband and a very lonely heart. By comparison, in the basement flat, unwanted tenant Tess has spent a lifetime hiding and shutting her heart to love. It takes a bossy doctor, a handsome gardener, a pushy teenager and an abandoned cat to show these two women that sometimes letting go is the first step to moving forward and new friendships can come from the most unlikely situations. MY REVIEW THE GIRL I USED TO KNOW by Faith Hogan is a compelling story that will grip you by your heart as you travel alongside these two very different women as they navigate their lives. Amanda has the perfect life with her husband, in her beautiful home, and has everything she desires at her fingertips. Except she doesn't. She discovers her husband is unfaithful, her house may look designer-perfect but it lacks love and that sense of home. And her relationships are all strained, including the one with Tess, who rents the basement part of her home. Everything is a mess and Amanda needs to figure out her future. But when Tess and Amanda's lives are brought together, they may just learn something from each other, and help each other see themselves in a different light. This story will make you smile, make your eyes mist, and make you feel it all as you watch Tess and Amanda change and grow as they begin to figure out their futures. THE GIRL I USED TO KNOW by Faith Hogan is a complex story about new friendships, moving on, and being happy, and I highly recommend it to all fiction fans. AUTHOR BIO Faith Hogan is an Irish award-winning and bestselling author of four novels. Her books have featured as Book Club Favorites, Net Galley Hot Reads and Summer Must Reads. She writes grown up women's fiction which is unashamedly uplifting, feel good and inspiring. Faith's latest book, What Happened To Us? is published in October 2018. Faith Hogan was born in Ireland. ABOUT THIS BOOK Could the lemon groves of Sicily be the perfect place to start over? The irresistible new novel from Jo Thomas, the author of Sunset Over the Cherry Orchard, will transport you to the island of mountains and sparkling blue seas. When life hands you lemons ... is it ever too late for a second chance? Zelda's impulsive nature has got her precisely nowhere up until now. A fresh start in a beautiful hilltop town in Sicily looking for new residents, together with her best friend Lennie, could be just what she needs. And who better to settle down with than the person who knows her best? But the sun-filled skies and sparkling seas can't hide the shadow hanging over Citta d'Ora, which means not everyone is pleased to see their arrival. The dreams Zelda and her fellow new residents had of setting up a new life might be slipping away. But a friendship with restauranteur Luca could be about to unlock the possibilities that lie in the local lemon groves. And there's a wedding on the horizon that might be just what the town needs to turn it around... Could a summer in Sicily help Zelda learn to trust her instinct and follow her heart? MY REVIEW Welcome to MY LEMON GROVE SUMMER by Jo Thomas. A novel that will enrich your senses in a way that will have you looking up trips to Sicily within minutes of reading it. A novel with in-depth characters that will captivate you from the very beginning and make you ignore daily life as you just have to finish one more page. We have all seen those ads that offer you a new life in an often small community abroad in exchange for work, right? But have you ever thought of what might happen if you said yes and moved to one of these stunning locations? Well, this is the case for Zelda and a group of strangers who find themselves in a stunning town in Sicily, where the scent of lemons lingers in the air. This place is perfect and as new residents and old begin to mingle, friendships begin to form. But there is something a little off about this magical place and all is never quite what it seems. Can this newly formed community band together to unlock their new potential both in their new home and themselves? MY LEMON GROVE SUMMER by Jo Thomas is simply wonderful and there is not one thing I would change about this tantalising tale. The sights, smells, sounds, and tastes take on a life of their own as I have now come to expect from this fabulous author, and the setting is breathtaking. There is drama, friendship, fresh starts, and tradition, all combining in this book to make it such an engaging story and I highly recommend MY LEMON GROVE SUMMER by Jo Thomas to any reader who likes to be transported to another country in every possible way. ABOUT THIS BOOK Return to Love Heart Lane for friendship, romance and a community who will be be there for you no matter what… Isla and Drew Allaway appear to have the perfect life – a strong marriage, two beautiful children and their picture-perfect home, Foxglove Farm. But, new mum Isla is struggling. She loves her little family but with Drew working all hours on the farm, Isla’s lonely. When she discovers that Drew has been keeping secrets from her, Isla has to face losing the home they all love. Can the Love Heart Lane community pull together once more to help save Foxglove Farm? And can Isla save her home…and her marriage? MY REVIEW I completely fell in love with Love Heart Lane so when I heard about FOXGLOVE FARM by Christie Barlow was released I was really excited to read the next instalment in this series. But like all series there is always that worry that the next book won't live up to the first but I am happy to say that FOXGLOVE FARM is even better. Isla and Drew have been married forever, have their beautiful family, and their farm, and everything seems perfect. But 'seems perfect' are the operative words here. Beneath the surface they are are struggling with their relationship and their responsibilities, and when secrets come to the surface, they may not be able to get past it all. A wonderful story about relationships and the level of work that is needed to make a marriage work, is just one part of this plot and there is so much about this story and these characters that I loved. Friendship, community spirit, issues of trust and respect, are all elements that worked really well for me but it is Isla that really made this story shine. I found it easy to connect with her and I was invested in how her life would turn out. FOXGLOVE FARM by Christie Barlow is an excellent story about trust, love, and forgiveness and I highly recommend it to fiction fans everywhere. It is the second book in this series but can easily be read as a standalone. AUTHOR BIO Christie Barlow is the author of A Year in the Life of a Playground Mother, The Misadventures of a Playground Mother, Kitty's Countryside Dream, Lizzie's Christmas Escape, Evie's Year of Taking Chances and The Cosy Canal Boat Dream. The book she wrote to prove a point is now a #1 bestseller in the UK, USA and Australia. ABOUT THIS BOOK How do you know who to trust... ...when you don't even know who you are? You are outside your front door. There are strangers in your house. Then you realise. You can't remember your name. She arrived at the train station after a difficult week at work. Her bag had been stolen, and with it, her identity. Her whole life was in there – passport, wallet, house key. When she tried to report the theft, she couldn’t remember her own name. All she knew was her own address. Now she's outside Tony and Laura's front door. She says she lives in their home. They say they have never met her before. One of them is lying. MY REVIEW When I received this book in the post I was instantly intrigued by the premise but nothing prepared me for this gripping, tense, and at times, horrifying tale of secrets, lies, and evil. Standing outside her home, she may not remember her name but she knows this is where she is supposed to be. But the two people who answer the door, Tony and Laura, disagree. This is their home and they have no idea who this woman is. Kind-hearted Laura takes her in, arranges a doctor's appointment, and gives her a bed for the night but when the doctor uncovers a possible answer to who this woman is, it terrifies Laura. But Tony doesn't believe in Laura's fears and is determined to help this woman whom he has given the name 'Jemma'. Someone isn't telling the truth. Someone is hiding something. But the question is who? From the very beginning, I was sucked into this story and the little hairs on the back of my neck were standing to attention. The characters are cryptic and secretive and I found myself doubting each and every one of them at different times but never dreamed of the truth which was genius (and harrowing!). If ever a book was made for a tv/film adaptation, then it is this one. FORGET MY NAME by J.S. Monroe is a psychological thriller that will hold you captive and one of the best in the genre that I have read this year. AUTHOR BIO J.S.Monroe is the pseudonym of the British author Jon Stock. ABOUT THIS BOOK Life’s not always a walk in the park… Anna thought she’d found The One – until he broke off their engagement exactly a year before their wedding day. Hoping new surroundings will do her the world of good, she moves in to a place of her own on the edge of gorgeous Wildflower Park. With the help and friendship of her neighbour Sophie, Anna quickly settles in and pledges to focus on her career, but a handsome new colleague seems determined to thwart her attempts at every turn. And when she receives a text from a mystery man, it looks as though an unlikely romance is on the horizon… Is Anna about to be swept off her feet by someone she really shouldn’t be falling for? Or could this be the new start she needs and deserves? MY REVIEW Engaging, feisty, and full of drama, A WALK IN WILDFLOWER PART by Bella Osborne is an incredible story of friendship, heartbreak, and new love and I couldn't put it down from start to finish. Yet again Anna has picked another useless guy, only this time she even got as far as getting engaged to him before he got cold feet and dumped her. With a new flat in an area that she has always adored, close to Wildflower Park and her best friend and her family, Anna is determined to make this fresh start her best move yet. Men are off her radar and she wants to prove herself at work. But when a new co-worker arrives, he ruffles her feathers and not in a good way, even if he seems to appeal to everybody else. An accidental text seems to lead to a possible new relationship but who is this mystery guy and is he right for Anna? And her best friend Sophie is struggling with her marriage and her young family and Anna is worried that she might do something reckless. Oh, and just to add a little more to Anna's plate, she has adopted a cat the size of a tiger, who comes with a sometimes grouchy ex-owner who may just prove to be something special. With so much happening will Anna see the light and find her path to happiness? There were plenty of moments in this story which made me smile but there is so much more to this book than a good laugh, and I was surprised at many of the twists and turns that this story took me on. The characters are very relatable and loveable, even when they are making questionable decisions, and there is so much drama, confusion, fun, and friendship swimming between these pages that A WALK IN WILDFLOWER PARK by Bella Osborne is sure to please the harshest of critics. A WALK IN WILDFLOWER PARK by Bella Osborne is a fabulous story of friendship, love, and finding your path and I highly recommend it to all fiction readers. AUTHOR BIO I've been jotting down my stories as far back as I can remember. Somehow life took over, I got a sensible job in project management and the writing has remained a passion. Writing your own story really is the best fun ever! But it’s a close run thing along with talking, eating chocolate, drinking fizz and planning holidays! I live in The Midlands with my lovely husband and our wonderful daughter, who thankfully, both accept me as I am (with my mad morning hair and a penchant for skipping).
